Collo said it so matter of factly, I just love the way he puts it sometimes

as quoted in The Age ""Even the prospect of the Blues' record 85-point loss to Richmond did not daunt the former Carlton premiership player...............It wasn't good but I can't say it's been too disappointing," Collins confessed. "I was never convinced we were that good. We got ahead of ourselves winning the Wizard Cup but that's all right."

well said collo and thanks for the perspective!

Saw that article, and must admit I was disappointed.

While it may be true, what Collo said is not really going to help encourage any vacillating non-member to sign up now, is it?

I think the only thing Mick Malthouse has ever said that I think is true (and that wasnt whinging) was:
"I don't think it's possible for a team to overachieve".
Can everyone please get it out of their heads that a team can play ABOVE themselves?
There is the best a team can play, and then their is underachieving... THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OVERACHIEVING.

Unless Collo has some massive plans for the end of the year, it's a disgrace that he's so accepting of our lousyness atm.

Not good...

But we overachieved last year and should never have done as well as we did. And missed out on all those good draft picks. And created all that false hope.

Maybe we played our BEST footy, but you CANNOT PLAY BETTER THAN YOUR BEST.

It makes no sense... once you play BETTER than your BEST then THAT becomes your new BEST and anything less is UNDERACHIEVING.

The reason everyone is so down is because now we arent playing our 'best', thus "underachieving".

Apologies for the repeated use of caps, but summing up:

YOU CANNOT PLAY BETTER THAN YOUR BEST BECAUSE BY DOING SO YOU CREATE A NEW "BEST".

Yeah he is doing alright, apart from failing to issue a court injunction.

Because of this brain meltdown we missed out on Wells and Goddard.

Yes yes, I know.. it's the past, but Collo's work hasn't been all that when it has come to onfield matters.

He is partly to blame for our onfield dilemma.

Forget the new members, what about "new" players.
How are we trying to sell the club with them? Have we been selling over the last few years?

Captain Obvious' Disciple thinks that we aren't in the eighties and it is not up to us to sell the club to potential players because we cannot 'buy' the players anyway.

I agree with what Bennyvtown is saying that the whole "give 110%" cliche is bullshit. I have never liked it myself. You can give 100% that's it. If the 100% that you give today is better that the 100% you gave yesterday it does not make it 110% - it just makes it your new improved 100% effort.
