Who in our side has a positive effect on their team mates. Who sparks them offf in games consistently. Our Sticks or our Williams, Bosustow,Hunter,Jezza, Dominator etc..

who do you guys see as the guy or two that you can build a side around in our side?

The only class in our side is:

Waite
Stevens
Thornton
Teague
Fevola (sometimes)

These are the guys to build Carlton's side around.

As for our inspiration. Fevola could be the guy and Teague has to inspire with his bravery.

No not talking class... McLeod and Arka are class but you cant build a side around them...

Now nominate who sparks the side and who you can actually build a football side around.. a succesful one...
Thats 2 different cataguories

Fevola and Betts are the closest thing we have... Now having said that Fev is too inconsistent and Eddie is only starting out. To say we could build a team around these guys, we'd need some serious changes to our list . Can it happen ? will it happen ... All too speculative. But i don't see it in the short term.

Players like Waite, Thornton, Simpson,Walker they will be key players to our future success, add the class of Stevens, the development of Blackwell, Russell ,Hartlett, even Raso, add the dedication of Carlos and maybe then will we make positive inroads.

A few more lean years, a few retirements and more delistings, will ensure Pagan can get the cattle he needs and wants. Collo summed it up well in the age today. We might be proud but we aren't stupid...

Synbad i really enjoy reading your posts mate, but of recent they are all angled the same way... we know we're not great, but making other posters admitt to this, and continually pointing out how weak our list is doesn't achieve a lot .... Our membership numbers this year are based on False Hope, maybe we should, and could keep that false hope alive for those, who aren't as committed as some of us to this club.

Cheers mate.

Thornton : Just has the perfect leadership qualities. Gives his all and hates to be beaten. Inspirational is his middle name so IMO a clear favourite as one person to build a team around & have success

Eddie Betts: X Factor, Excitement machine, and cult figure - enough said!

Teague : Whilst down a bit so far this season compared to last, is another that has an amasing work ethic and leadership qualities. A no fear attiude is also a handy part of his character.

Jarred Waite : - The fact this guy played a game of footy a couple of days after a significant personal loss is testament to why I want him. He sparks the side with the way he plays his footy and his attitude. Put simply - I luv the guy.

Andrew Walker :- Blitzed in his debut game and eveyone automatically assumed he was the next Judd and would be able to reproduce it each week at the tender age of 18!! Whilst he hasn't set the world alight has done enough to be a spark in the team, and even a future superstar!!

Nick Stevens :- Slaughtered by some, and revered by others. I am of the opinion that he does have the spark and the skills to be worthy of building a team around him which is also successful.

Kade Simpson:- Another much mailigned player within supporter ranks. The kid IMO is just about to tear the game apart. Gets into this success and spark category as a result of his never say die attiude and clear passion for the jumper!

Setanta O'Hailpin :- One of AFLs greatest stories. Ex Hurler now AFL player. His unrivalled passion for improving himself and dedication to learning a foregin game is but one reason to have him in this category. Of course his unique (read : rare!!) size helps as well!!

Andrew Carazzo : See Kade Simpson

Aplogoies to others I have missed, but IMO at this point in time the list above are the only ones that fall into Synbads categories

CHF..Walls,Kernahan, Tredrae, Brown, Brereton, Carey....for mine you build your team around having a good spine especially having a good CHF...

For mine only Thornton gives me a secure feeling along with Stevens...Jarrod Waite would be next in line but needs to string more games together.

The Dominator...your ultimate pressure player who wins you finals.....
Akermanis has some Dominator characteristics.....but are not the meat and potatoes men that you build the team around....

Michael, Leppitch, Voss/Black, Brown and Lynch.........great spine ...great results....all of them super reliable...

Thornton
Teague
Stevens
Waite
Walker (hopefully)
Fevola (if he gets his shit together)

Another good question would be: How many A-grade, game-breaking, genuine match winners do we actually have?

Bluebird.....you know me so well...I keep mentioning him because thats what we need..CHF and Captain in one package..to get a player of his stature would change the entire club and reduce the negative posts on this site by about half

Fevola is the only game breaker matchwinner we have .....

NOT ONE PLAYER ON OUR LIST CAN. Not one of our players including Fev can ignite the team the way you are refering to.
Kouta used to.

Maybe Bentick?

Time will tell whether he has the ability - but I believe he has good leadership qualities.

I'm with you Brother Elwood - but maybe we would have people complaining about the amount of times he gets suspended.

agree with many of the names listed above but I'll add 2 more for people to consider

1. FISHER!
2. LIVINGSTON!

Regardless of what you might think of the 2 players (particularly livingston), if either of them can forge long term careers with the club then I think you could build around them

Reduce the negative posts by half? I don't think so. After a stellar first game, he would follow up with an average game of 6 kicks, 2 marks, 1 goal.

It would go something like this...

"And Jonathan Brown - on $700k a year and he only kicked one goal on the weekend. ONE GOAL!

You're a money hungry mercinary Jonathan, go back and play at the Bullants until you can kick 10 goals and take 16 marks every week. It's time we rid the club of these money grabbers, and got players who genuinely want to play for the jumper"

Maybe the team should take Kouta out for a candlelit dinner and close dancing just to reignite the spark
