so which one is it for NSW and ACT on friday nights? Live - 1 hour or 4 hours. also what excatly does live - 1 hour delay mean ? either live or 1 hour delay?

I think it will be similar to this year where Fox showed Friday Night games at 9.30pm and Nine showed it at 11.30pm, except this year it will either be shown live at 7.30pm or on a one hour delay at 8.30pm on Fox.

Friday night was 830 on Fox in Canberra - direct feed of the Channel 9 coverage. If they do that again this year I'll be happy.

I think it was on 8:30 pretty much across the Eastern seabord, just on the naughty channel that verbs probably never watched. ;)

I'll be happier if the Friday night games are shown live on Foxtel, this will offset the inevitible increase in subscription fees I guess. :|

If this info is correct, I think the following Carlton games will be on Foxtel:

Rd 1: Sunday, Apr 01 (Sun Twilight) Richmond MCG Home 5:10 pm
Rd 2: Saturday, Apr 07 (Night) Geelong Telstra Dome Away 7:10 pm
Rd 5: Saturday, Apr 28 (Night) Brisbane Lions Telstra Dome Home 7:10pm
Rd 8: Saturday, May 19 (Night) Kangaroos Gold Coast Stadium, Carrara Away 7:10 pm:
Rd 11: Saturday, Jun 09 (Night) Port Adelaide Telstra Dome Home 7.10pm
Rd 13: Saturday, Jun 30 (Day) Fremantle Subiaco Away 2:10 pm
Rd 15: Sunday, Jul 15 (Sun Early) Sydney SCG Away 1:10 pm
Rd 16: Sunday, Jul 22 (Sun Early) Brisbane Lions Gabba Away 1:10 pm
Rd 17: Saturday, Jul 28 (Day) St. Kilda Telstra Dome Home 2:10 pm
Rd 19: Saturday, Aug 11 (Day) Port Adelaide AAMI Stadium Away 2:40pm
Rd 20: Saturday, Aug 18 (Day) Essendon* MCG Away 2:10 pm
Rd 21: Saturday, Aug 25 (Day) Kangaroos Telstra Dome Home 2:10 pm
Rd 22: Sunday, Sep 02 (Sun Twilight) Melbourne MCG Away 5:10 pm

The Following Games will be on 7:

Rd 4: Sunday, Apr 22 (Day) West Coast Subiaco Away 2:40 pm
Rd 6: Friday, May 04 (Night) St. Kilda Telstra Dome Away 7:40 pm
Rd 10: Sunday, Jun 03 (Day) Western Bulldogs MCG Home 2:10 pm
Rd 12: Friday, Jun 15 (Night) Hawthorn Telstra Dome Home 7:40 pm
Rd 14: Sunday, Jul 08 (Day) Melbourne MCG Home 2:10 pm

That leaves the following games on 10:

Rd 3: Saturday, Apr 14 (Day) Essendon* MCG Home 2:10 pm
Rd 7: Saturday, May 12 (Day) Collingwood MCG Away 2:10 pm
Rd 9: Saturday, May 26 (Day) Adelaide Telstra Dome Home 2:10 pm
Rd 18: Saturday, Aug 04 (Day) Collingwood MCG Home 2:10 pm

Code:
2 games on Friday Night
9 games on Sat Arvo
4 games on Sat Night
2 games on Sunday Early
3 games on Sunday Arvo
2 games Sunday Twilight

This is worked out assuming 10 has first pick of the Sat Arvo games. This is not going to be the case, so we may end up with more games on 10, it will depend on how we are travelling compared to the teams whose games we clash with on a Saturday (arvo or night).

All in all, it's probably better value forking out for Foxtel than buying a membership at this stage. A sad state of affairs. I guess when the board talks about the financial situation improving when the team improves is correct. If we played 15 or more games a year on FTA we would be more attractive to sponsors. With foxtel being a competitior to our major sponsor OPTUS, we could possible find our self on FTA more often than I estimated when Foxtel have the choice of games.

Looks like this little black duck will be shelling out $50 a month for 2 hours of (hopefully very exciting) entertainment a week !

Definitely 9.30 in Brisbane too.

Then again, I didn't know there was a naughty channel, which why I probably never watched it.

Before foxtel went digital I used to see the games at 6.30pm here in WA.

The Gold card in the Foxtel box was great. :)

The AFR is reporting today that the Fox,Austar Friday night games will be shown on Fox through the Main Events channel.

Perhaps we are going to have to pay additional to watch?

was 8.30 down here in canberra which was a direct feed on the 9 coverage on the naughty channel. channel 38 or something similar, it was always a drama trying to get the guys at the pub to sort the TV out and get that going.

i had my fingers and toes crossed for live or near live FTA on friday nights, doesn't look like that is gunna happen though

Some Key Points:

Victoria: 4 FTA matches per week live or near-live on 7 and 10. 4 matches live on Fox 3. 1 FTA game on Sunday, starting at 3pm on 7 and broadcast in full.

South Australia: As many as 5 FTA matches a weekend. Balance on Fox 3.

Western Australia: As many as 5 FTA matches a weekend. Balance on Fox 3.

New South Wales & ACT: Average 3 matches live or near-live on FTA per week and average 5 matches per week live on Fox 3. Friday night matches will be live across the state on Fox 3, on a 1 hour delay on 7 in the ACT, Wagga, Dubbo and Northern Rivers, and from 11pm in Sydney and other parts of New South Wales.

Queensland: 3 or 4 matches per week live or near-live on FTA and 5 matches per week live on Fox 3. Friday night matches will be live across the state on Fox 3, on a 1 hour delay on 7 on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Cairns, from 11pm in Brisbane and other parts of Queensland. Saturday night matches will be live or near-live on 10 across the entire state.

Sorry guys, no info on NT and Tassie yet.

Pretty good outcome IMHO! :-D

I'd say a mixed outcome Brizzy.

Melbourne viewers without Foxtel lose 0.75 of a game a week (the Sunday butchered one). Nothing gained that I can see. If you have Foxtel then a slight gain of 0.25 of a game a week.

CFC loses out too I think. Even less FTA coverage makes it harder to sell to sponsors. Collingwood, West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Port Adelaide will be shown 6 times on FTA into their home states in the first 6 rounds. Carlton twice. Makes it hard get the sponsors in to match the big clubs.

It's stupid.

I'm going to have to fork over flippin' $50/month to watch the Blues.

You can forget getting sponsorships here in Sydney for the Blues if we're going to get scant TV coverage.

There's stronger words I'd use but there are kids on this forum.

How can you people be so happy with the situation? I used to be able to watch 4-5 games on FTA even if it was delayed - I watched the Blues about 10 times out of 22 last year because of not being on FTA.

It's [REDACTED].

It's no longer a game for the masses - those with PayTV will be alright - those without are f*cked. So those of you with Fox subscriptions stop being smug on those of us without.

Im sorry Clem.....but im STOKED....in Brizzy we have never had live coverage...unless it was the bears....

If you didnt have Foxtel , you would be lucky to see a friday night game until....depends..cause channell 9 always runs late...ALWAYS...@ 11.45PM to 12.00 AM to see a friday night game. Sukarola !!!!...goodbye saturday !!!!

So when Foxel had the footy channell on the basic package...i signed up ....

Then they take away the only real footy gossip / chat / news on any TV up here , when that went...

So now , im betting that the Blues get a lot of cioverage on fox...which i am extremely happy about :-D

And the fox games are gonna be digitally clear.... wooohoooo

Sorry Vics... but im loving it...
