One of the great things about being involved with the Blueseum is that quite a few past players and their relatives have contributed to the site. In particular we are beginning to recieve rare or previously unseen photographs from the private collections of past players.

A recent addition is for past player Bill Redmondand his image gallery.

I thought I might show a few of the photos here, they are too good to just sit in a gallery not many people might browse.

I love this photo, a very young Bill Redmond just before his first game for the blues. Just look at the exctitement and pride in his eyes. What a magical feeling that must have been.

Great effort Jarusa.Really wrapped to see those photos from 1947 coz that was a special year for me mate.I actually was born in September of 1947.And they tell me we won a flag that year.Reckon its a pretty good footy club that gives you a flag for your birthday and follows it up with another flag in 1968 for your 21 st. birthday.Then i got married in 1970 and they gave me a flag for my wedding present.But it gets better Jarusa.The lovely wife gave birth to twins in 1979,and yep,another flag.But there is more Jars.In 1982 we had another young tacker and yep,another flag.As you can see Jarusa,i was destined for the Blues and my history is deeply entwined with the Blues.

P.S...........i also happened to be born in Carlton.

You could follow the Eddie McGuire rule - his kids were born at the Royal Women's Hospital Carlton, apparently he put Place of Birth: West Collingwood on the Birth Certificate.

This thread is a classic example of the great power of the internet.

All of us have photos similar to these. Family snaps of happy times, memorable occasions, loved ones at various times in their lives. With the Blueseum, we can have our album of the wider Carlton family. Photos and stories of people we may not know personally, but nevertheless respect, admire and sometimes, yes, even love as much as our own flesh and blood - all collected so that future generations may understand why this great club and this great game are so much a part of the soul of Australia.

This is the heritage of anyone who has ever supported the Old Dark Navy Blues. Let's hope that much more of this sort of material turns up, because its bloody marvellous.
