Looking at that photo of a Collingwood feral wearing our playing strip outside Flinders St station today - regardless of his motivation for doing so - got me thinking about what our current strip represents.

All I see in our current logo is a litany of failure. Two wooden spoons, record debt, incompetance at board level, plunging membership and now, even bloody Collingwood supporters feeling sorry for us!

The only consolation is that the Carlton faithful are stirring again. There's a real feeling in the air of 'enough is enough - what can I do to help turn things around?'

We have got to wipe the slate clean and start again from scratch - starting at the top, but sweeping right through the club. And I believe we should ditch the current insipid Carlton guernsey in favour of the jumper that that
stamped its authority over the VFL/AFL from 1970 to 1995.

I want our new crop of stars to grow taller when the pull on the same Navy Blue guernsey as that worn by Nicholls, Silvagni, Jezza, Doull and Hunter - not the stonewash blue creation with a golf ball in the middle and a red spot on the shoulder, as worn by Beaumont, Mansfield and co.

We are the Navy Blues - not the mid-Blues or the near enough to navy blues. Our guernsey tells the world who we are. It defines us, rallies us and it should inspire us.

Near enough is not good enough. Let's claim back our heritage, and get ready to take the football world head-on again.

FEAR

With that fear will come the arrogance and the people like Joffa will be sorry they ever gave us their pity

I think the players would prefer today's tops as the old ones were warmer, didn't have much give and worst of all were itchy. I think it would be a step or 10 backwards.

I could not possibly agree more. The heritage design is head and shoulders above the new age wishy washy shit we have.

the CFC logo represents success i think...it also represents arrogance...whether its the way we've rubbed in our proud history to the other 15clubs, or the arrogance in the way they've repaid the finger pointing during the recent dark ages.

Agree 150% - can one agree 150% still? or has it gone down to 110%?

Either way - you guys are on the money. (Patfitzpatrick and deano supremo)

I would vote for the new board on the guernsey issue alone.

If they can get me back my carlton guernsey they can have whatever they want.

The guernsey worn in the heritage round last year is the one that should be used all year round.

Completely agree PF, I'd like to see a change of strip to coincide with a change of coach, change of board and a serious move to take the club into a successful era.

I hear what you're saying about the colour of the strip, I've long thought that the move to satiny polyester strips in the late 90's took the darkness out of our jumper and killed the look of the jumper I grew up barracking for. We used to be the dark army now we're a shiny electric blue.

Bring back the big arse white monogram on a matte DARK blue jumper, piss off the polyester, piss off the memories of Campo, Hamil, Pagan, Carlton Unity, Mott, Angwin, the Spew and the timber utensils; stick them all in the window of interflora, because that would be one of the greatest flower arrangements the world is likely to see

You have to move with the times, just because we haven't been successful the last few years is no reason to change your jumper back.

You don't hear Melbourne supporters crying out for this beast from back when they ruled the AFL.

Image

Or the Doggies only premiership jumper. If only they knew what has been holding them back in recent times.

Interestingly none of those sides, including us have won a flag since they made the change.

You might have something there Beantown.

As the old saying goes..."If it aint broken, don't fix it."

No doubt in my mind we need to get back to our roots. Reflect on the era it was when we were winning premierships..and rekindle the attitude of winners.

Draft rules aside, we have drafted well...now is the time to rekindle the legacy of the past, and make the kids feel part as a continuation of that era....back to where we belong at the top.

I still reckon the new age logo looks too soft. Meek almost.

The heritage is strong, bold and aggressive IMO.

Every time this comes up it seems to be a black and white issue. You either prefer the old, or prefer the new. There don't seem to be any fence sitters on this one.

Interesting that the Annual Report still contains the old style logo, with the notches, rather than the smoother look from last season.

I probably prefer the logo from 98-05, followed by the 80's logo you're talking about, but I have to admit the logo from last season started to grow on me.

I prefer the Doggies Premiership jumper to the one they have now, incidentally...

I'd love to see the Heritage logo used all year - it brings back more memories of what Carlton were and will be again than the current one.

Good post.

I just went onto the carlton website and noticed they aren't selling the "heritage round" guernseys anymore. (These are the same as the traditional guernseys but raised and in the new fabric)

Maybe they have sold out?
