i used to be a Fitzroy supporter.

YUP! Tis true. I switched to Carlton when Fitzroy moved (my Dad went for Carlton so i always had a soft spot for them).

I will do everything humanly possible to avoid Carlton re-locating. And pissing of this inept and obviously incapable board is a good start.

I'll even start saving now for a third membership!

What's the bet Marcus will come out now and say "I was misquoted" just like Smorgo did after the footy show.

Was that a Merchant Banker or W------

Ive said it before and ill say it again.

The ONLY option is to vote for change

CFC minus Smorgon, Rose Wilson is a much better thing

To do anything else is signing up for more of the same old same old same old RUBBISH

Fancy saying the redevelopment will only occur with them, that in itself speaks volumes

With some serious money holding off because of Smorgon, getting him off the board is the only positive thing we can do in the short term.

Scream it from the rooftops, people!

We CAN make a difference.

See that's where they are trying to fool people. The 12-15 million redevelopment is going ahead no matter what. We will have a new state of the art training venue, we'll just miss out on the shopping mall, theme park and casino if Unity are voted out.

Honestly im getting sick and tired of our club being s*^& canned.

I know its a crap tactic by Rose, but i really hope all us as supporters just put their hand in pocket and make sure we buy a membership. If we all vote eventually we will weed out the bad people at board level. These people will come and go, but our club must remain forever! We have youngsters coming through all of a sudden our onfield list looks very exciting for the future so the wins will come.

We cant let a hopeless board effect whether or not we buy a membership. Look honestly i cant cop Smorgon and i cant cop Pagan... BUT I LOVE THE CLUB! THATS WHY I BUY A MEMBERSHIP!

I urge all the Blues supporters just to buy a membership to support the club. I cant think of anything worse than merging or relocating interstate... honestly would rip my heart out. I love the Blues and thats why i buy my membership. Not for Pagan, Smorgon, Rose or any other knob at board level.

Interesting airing of this latest gaffe by KB (and Patrick Smith) on SEN this AM.

They were both bemused by these "admissions" by Rose; and wondered about the effect they would have at the Election.....not good.

Quite a few callers on the subject were all anti Smorgon; saying they had a gutful of the crap going on at our once proud Club.

As at Midday EDST:

Herald Sun

What should happen to the Blues?

Leave them to sort it out themselves 31% (229 votes)

The AFL should bail them out 23% (170 votes)

Merge them 13% (100 votes)

Send them interstate 30% (220 votes)

Total of 719 votes

You can clearly see how other clubs supporters really love us...43% so far want us out!

I just rang the club to show my disgust at Rose's comments - ring the club and let them know how you feel!!!

The receptionist was nice about it - even indicated that the club knew nothing about it - Unity - more like more of the same - DISUNITY

Should also send a protest message to the UNITY email address (info@unityatcarlton.com); I'm just about to do so

The AFL may want to ship us off to Longreach, Maroochydore or wherever, but at the end of the day I can guarantee you that I will never watch another game of AFL in my life if they force Carlton to merge or move.

It is the equivalent of asking the Liverpool soccer club of merging with Hull United or West Ham or whatever...

I would prefer us going to play in a lower comp - ie VFL or whatever - than merging/moving..

I dont doubt what Rose said is true about our fincancial plight and I wouldnt be trusting the AFL on the issue of relocation either.... but you have to love the timing of Rose ...how convienent to go to the papers on the eve of an election and portray yourself, Smorgon, Wilson etc as the heroes who have the plan to save the club with their " fawlty towers" development.

They really think the average Blues member/supporter is as thick as six doors and that they will clutch onto anything that looks like a ray of hope....as Molsey said its disgraceful and its shows how desperate Smorgon and unity have become..

We need Delutis, Pratt, Matheison, Elliott jr etc to get another ticket together and make that EGM happen before its too late........I think the white knights are the only hope.......the AFL have plans for another club in Qld and NSW and we have just put ourselves at the top of the list of candidates....did I mention that Essendon* have about 35 million in the bank according to Tim Watson on SEN.....he has to be joking right?

It was bad enough to read about Rose's publicity stunt for his re election at the expense of Carlton's brand and image in Melbourne's local paper THE HUN.

What really pissed me off, was that it was highlighted in this morning's national show THE TODAY SHOW for the whole country to hear. Eyebrows raised...it wasn't a good look, nor a good vibe story..."mmmm....things aren't looking good at Carlton" ans a shake of the head.

Rose you're a Bloody idiot!!

I like the idea of the Carlton Redevelopment...but what if the plan is rejested by the local community and council...what then...what guarantees has Rose given us regarding our club's future? None.

I was going to vote Unity...but this is now shitting me so much, I want answers, and I'm now inclined to vote out Unity just to find out what is really going on. If Unity is voted out and the new board says the same as Rose though...that'll be end for me and Carlton, and I'll have a go at everyone associated with either faction...BIG TIME.

We need the truth, we need guarantees, and we need Carlton's fortunes turned around. The current board have added $2.2m TO OUR DEBT IN THE LAST YEAR. They have no cred.

I'm confused...Unity act the fool at my club's expense, with pie in the sky stuff, and no guarantees, and the opposing candidates seeking election to the board have no plan or guarantees either.

This is hopeless. We have no credible choice.

What are these pricks doing to my club?

Brizzy I read it differently.

Merge = 13% (ie rid carlton of their identity...merge it with something/one else))

Bail out, Interstate, or leave it to them to sort out implies that the rest support Carlton as an identity.

It's the merge that scares me the most, followed by the relocation.

Either way, we wouldn't be having these discussions or stupid polls if Rose did not blab all this negative crap...comparing us and worse to the now extinct Fitzroy.

Bloody stupid fools.

I don't know why we have polls like this where opposition supporters who's opinions mean nothing are allowed to slag our club. It's like asking the KKK their opinon on unemployment in African Americans aged 19-25

The relocation scenerio would have been a reality for a while..the AFL have made no secret of the fact they want expansion in Qld and NSW .
We have now joined the Kangaroos and the Bulldogs with our snouts in the AFL trough and might have to go to the AFL again for more money in 2007 to cover our running costs like last season.

The AFL only covered the basics last year and even though Demetriou said he still wanted a 16 team competition he made no promises about how many clubs in Melbourne etc and made no promises that they would continue to support us with money.

I dont see a merge taking place...we have good support interstate and Sydney would suit our profile and the AFL's plans....while Rose is a disgrace with his timing and outburst I think Andy Demetriou would be sitting back smiling and saying please let it happen.....

If Unity get in it will show me how gullible the average Blues supporter is....if they are that gullible then they might even buy a rescue plan from the AFL that inlcudes relocation, wiping the debt, money in the bank and a push start in Sydney....some fans are that desperate they might vote for that and thats scary......
If the AFL can get the Kangaroos on the Gold Coast and they will... we might be next.....especially with a wimpy, easy to bend over president like Smorgon running the club....

What you say here makes sense, but as members surely we can vote on whether we want to relocate or go to the VFL?

I will be voting that we go to a local comp. Sure it won't have the media profile of the AFL, but with a bit of a groundswell i could see the VFL taking some of the AFL's market.

It is a bit like american football - the college teams are in many ways more popular than the NFL teams. A local comp. with carlton in it could get back to 5,000-10,000 crowds.

Seriously you guys have let your mind run away with you. How about we just relocate the team to Cairns? I need a good holiday.

The AFL will not be sending Carlton to anywhere or merging them with anyone. We are too important to them. We have one of the biggest followings in the AFL's heartland of Victoria. We will be around for the forseeable future.

We just see some people that can run the club a bit better. That is all.
