If its old news then there's no need for a representative of the Club to restate it for the press then, is there?

I feel ill, I can't believe we have board members continually dragging our name through the mud. We're becoming like Richmond.

Not to mention trying to use scare tactics to swing a few votes. Fortunately Marcus, Carlton members aren't as stupid as you think they are.

And you say "if the club continues to do the same old things that it has been doing.... the club, in my opinion, will not exist in its present form." Well Mr Rose, you have had four years to right the ship and show some initiative and as you say "think outside the square" but you've never done it. Too little too late in my book.

I've heard a little island country in the South Pacific would like to lend us a hand...would that be considered thinking outside the square?

What a disgraceful press interview and article to be offered by a current Director. Right when the stench had passed, if only for a few weeks, does this idiot come out and pull our name back in the mud yet again.

The Smorgon / Rose line of panicking the members to get more members has been shown to be flawed. People don't like signing up to a dying animal - they want an image of the future. The young players, redemption for the past few years - this should be the image portrayed by Carlton.

For him to advance his own political purposes by offering such headlines is a disgrace.

What he said.

It is amazing how these twits keep outdoing themselves. Gee, Marcus, I'm gunna vote for you now. We're worse than Fitzroy ... and who's gunn fix it all - yeah, the man who's been steering our finaces for the past 4 years.

FFS!!!!

We can only pray the members have enough sense to turf these morons out.

They might build us a nice little accommodation facility ... to house all the filth supporters.

Well done Marcus! Great way to pump up the club to potential sponsers and members - just what we needed, more ammo for the papers and SEN to make fun at Carlton's expense.

And to think I was considering voting Unity - no chance in hell now!!

Are you for real? Don't you see the damage something like this does? This has caused damage to the club that will take months to undo. This isn't about giving opposition supporters ammunition, it's about the image of the club. Which bloody sponsors are going to get on board with a club worse than Fitzroy?

I've been keeping out of the politics as much as I can mainly because I (and others) will have to work with whoever is on the board next year with regards to the Blueseum and how it can best benefit the club.

I put my votes in the mailbox last night, and the first name I crossed off yesterday was Marcus Rose.

Seeing this pathetic politiking in the Hun has only confirmed what I already knew, Marcus Rose is poison on the board and has to go.

Footy clubs are about dreams, people want to dream about the next premiership.

It's like asking people if you would rather stare up at the stars or roll around in a pile of shit.

We have been asked to roll around in shit long enough.

Well said Jars. The sooner we can get rid of these morons the better.

I think it's a sad state of affairs when the only positive press coming out of the club at the moment is from voluntary contributers like yourself and molsey.

I wish the board members would let the Marketing and Communications departments do their jobs instead of going over their heads and straight to the papers. Rose may well be a "merchant banker" but he has no clues when it comes to PR. STOP DRAGGING OUR CLUB THROUGH THE MUD!!

I can't believe that this guy is the supposed genius to solve our financial situation - the stupidity and ignorance of his interview, only confirms to me that he has absolutely no place on this board, and like others he was the first name crossed off my list.

My only hope is that those other members who are not as well informed do not fall for this 3 card trick and political schemeing.

It is old news though. We are INSOLVENT. I'm missing something in all of this. We need the AFL's help. Desperately. I don't think it matters who is on the board. We are a basketcase. This redevelopment b/s is a furphy. It will not happen. "Hi Mr Banker/Investor, I currently can't pay my mortgage but I've got this great idea - can I borrow $67 mil to do it please?"

Everything in that article about our financial position is true - yes, even the fact that memberships etc won't save us. We are in a worse position than Fitzroy, and if it's because of the decisions of Collins/Rose/Wilson etc or Big John Elliott frankly who gives a flower. We are insolvent. We barely can pay wages. We have finished last 3 out of the past 4 years. There are no white knights. We need help from the AFL pronto, or hasta la vista hello Gold Goast.

I just rang the club to show my disgust at Rose's comments - ring the club and let them know how you feel!!!

The receptionist was nice about it - even indicated that the club knew nothing about it - Unity - more like more of the same - DISUNITY

Anyone interested in an email campaign to Richard Pratt to bail us out? I obviously haven't thought too much about this but if he got 1,000 passionate emails from people on here begging and grovelling for salvation would it help? He could fund the EGM to boot out these guys and start fresh.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but I have just had enough of everything at the moment. It's like we are a very ill person on life support and it would almost be humane to pull the plug except that I have loved Carlton for so long. The AFL would lose so many supporters without us but I am sure they could convince themselves that a second team in NSW would work.

If what Synbad says is true, voting out Smorgan will be the same as sending 1000 emails.

The challengers and the money will come.

Agree completely. You and I and one or two others have talked about this before. Almost a year ago we discussed our position and how we are like Fitzroy.

This is what makes it even worse. You said:

There are no white knights...We need help from the AFL pronto, or hasta la vista hello Gold Goast.

On the offical website of the Lions it says:

Fitzroy looked set to move to the Gold Coast. Even the players had endorsed the move, but a ‘white knight’ saved the day at the 11th hour with a sizeable cash injection.
