I am probably going to cop a lot of flak over this, i would like to see Kouta put up his hand for the captaincy this year and have the likes of whitnall ,stevens and lappin come out to support him.

I genuinely believe that whitnall ( eventhough he seems to be the on field leader) and stevens could do without the responibilty of the captaincy due to their fluctuating form over the years.

I would like to see what this season brings and evaluate the situation at year end. Maybe a player such as murphy, walker, waite and others might put up thier hand as a long term captain.

Please go easy on me on this as it is only a suggestion

But in saying that i will bet my house on it that our next Captain will be Lance Whitnall.

Its ok to do flip flops on certain issues..lol

AFAIK Kouta doesn't want it.

Late last year Kouta came out and said that while he stepped down from the captaincy, if the match committee wanted him to retain the job for one more year he would do it without question.

Wouldnt be surprised if this occurs and then instead of installing whitnall or stevens we opt to put a young captain in place who will be in charge for a large chunk of time, ala Sticks.

Perhaps Murph, Simmo or Walker

Lance is a lay down for captain and he deserves it. Kouta should be able to run around unencumbered by any other responsibilities than getting the ball - he deserves that too.

Nobody deserves he captaincy.
Lance struggles to get out on the track and as a media performer, he is very second rate.
He doesnt need the captaincy to be an on field leader.
I agree with the Don and have been advocating this for a while. Let Kouta continue another year and hopefully someone will put their hand up in the interim.
Someone with the appropriate qualities who can be a long term leader.

He struggles to get out on the training track this year.

Lovely edit.

It would be great if Kouta was captain again, equally great if Whitnall were to be captain. Both are Carlton boys through and through...Blue Baggers to the bone.

Either way, I'd be happy.

Give it to Kernahan. I don't reckon he has enough roles at the club. Let's get him on the board, on the match committee and in the starting 18!

I'm happy with Kouta keeping it.

Otherwise Lance.

Otherwise Simpson.

I don't give a flying flower who's captain, as long as they act like it on and off the field, and the team is a unified unit behind him.

I know he has his knockers in here and many on the outside say he should have retired 2 seasons ago but you'll never see him:-

-turn up to training overweight
-drunk in a public place
-arrested for assult
-cheating on his wife
-Driving under the influence

The list goes on. Hence why i want him leading the young kids we have.

Kouta was lead by Champions when he started. Now i see Kouta as the only Champion we have left (but we have dozens of potentials!)

Whitnall will love the extra responsibilty of captaincy, his game will go to another level. He is a born leader, lets his actions do the talking.

he will be captain in season 2007. If by some silly chance Stevens gets captain i will be absolutely filthy. he doesnt love the Blues like Whitnall does

Some peoples reservations about Lance are due to some of his actions re: unable to turn up in condition expected of professional sportsman and leadership hopeful

A new level down ?????

we saw his game go to a new level last year when he had the honour of leading the club.

I cant see how he can get better..will he run faster...???... grow taller???... be fitter???... jump higher???... take on the frontliners of all of a sudden???... or will he let Setanta do that???

We dont have any leaders so we better spread the load around... a couple of games to Lance isnt a problem to me... and a couple to Stevens.. and Lappin...and Fevola... and a few spread around the kids... and hopefully we will come out of this with a better idea on who is captaincy and ALSO spread the leadership around and lay a foundation of leaders for the future... thats what a forward thinking club would do.

a backwards thinking club would make Lance captain ...

I've heard that possibly the captaincy will be shared between Stevens and Whitnall
