Yes mate....I'm having to check some of my books to fine tune these details.

We actually signed him when he was 16 in November 1980, when he was playing underage footy with Glenelg.

Carlton's then General Manager Jim Allison declared "We believe he's got more potential than Royce Hart when he signed with Richmond as an untried schoolboy"

Melbourne's Herald headlined the signing with "Blues Hart"

This is digressing a little bit but one bloke who always "Pantsed" us but we didn't recruit was Brad Hardie.

I remember seeing Hardie's first game for the Bullldogs at Princes Park as he picked up 40+ posessions without an opponent. I remember saying to a mate "Who the hell is on this guy???????"

I was also there when Hardie kicked 9 against us at Princes Park when he was playing for Brisbane. That finished Robert Walls career at Carlton.

I reckon most Carlton supporters would rate Hardie in the top ten of all time if it was just for performances against us.

True KS.....but it WAS Capper's 50 metre goal against us that finished Wallsy......the last straw.......(according to some players)....but Hardie was a giant pain in the arse every time he played us....

At this time the 50 metre line was actually 45 metres (although the club and Ian Collins went to great pains to hide this fact  )- the ground was extended when we developed the Legends Stand - then it became actually 50 metres.

The day Hardie kicked his 9 goals was indeed Walls' last game as Carlton Coach - Walls played Wayne Johnston in the back pocket all day on Hardie in response to something that Johnston said at training and was trying to prove a point.

Walls was sacked an Jezza was appointed that very night.

I remember Nick Stevens picking up about 36 touches against us at Optus in 2002 or 2003. I walked away and said to my girlfriend I'd give anything to have a player like that at the blues, he hasn't quite turned around our fortunes but we were lucky the way it all turned out

True mate.....but that kick of Cappers was beyond his range wasn't it?....it was a fluke kick that was the last straw for a Coach who got us a Flag in 1987.....Finals in 1988; and sacked in 1989.....Times Change!

An eye catching, 36 possession performance from Nick Stevens would have gladdened all Carlton supporters at the end of that year, when he became a Blue, but at that stage was cutting his future side to ribbons.

I was there and you are absolutely spot on. Where's that form gone?

45 metres was just at the top end of Capper's range and it just got over the line.

Yes we were a tough club and demanded success (ahh) but even Walls will admit that he had lost the players at that stage.

He had the ball on a string that day.

Did Rod Galt give us a hard time in his Saints days?

No but I remember him tearing North Melbourne a new one at Princes Park in 1978, it was Jezza's 2nd or 3rd game as Coach and we were still on the bottom of the ladder and North were on top - Rod Galt pulled down mark after mark at Full Forward and kicked 6 goals.

I do remember that golden patch that Galt hit during that year. Thought he was a reasonable footballer. The chicks loved him too.

He was a bit of a photographer too - as I recall he took some shots of the Carlton BlueBirds - used to have that poster on my wall - now that would be one for Warby's Scrapbook.

OK guys....we were all wrong!.....it was 1983; the same year he lost the Magarey Medal for getting suspended for hitting Gary McIntosh.

In that game ; he beat Doull, Chris Mew and Gary Pert to kick 10 goals.

But: According to the club's records Bruce Doull didn't play Interstate footy in 1983 (though a swag of BluesBoys did: Sheldon, Ashman, Buckley, Marcou, English, McConville, Johnston, and Bosutow).

Doull did play in the Big V in 1984, the same year he won his 4th club B&F.

I got the above info from the great book...."Carlton- The 100 Greatest" by Jim Main and Russell Holmesby.....but.....on re reading " Sticks"...."The Stephen Kernahan Story"; he DID kick 10 goals in a State of Origin game against the big V in 1984, to win the Fos Williams Medal for being best afield......hope that settles that!

So he did kick 10 out of SA's 16 goals that game. Pretty impressive for a 20 year old.
