I reckon the problem with the orange is that if you add navy blue you basically get the corporate colours of one of our greatest sponsors in Optus' competition.

the orange ones are hideous. from a commerical POV i reckon the white one will be a fantastic seller. and as i said on the previous page i really like the white one.

yeah, orange is part of the history of the club, but its also a very difficult colour to make good if you saturate a guernsey with it.

See, that's where I think the white is a massive mistake, especially from a commercial POV. It's not differentiated enough from the real jumper. And to say that "it's too difficult" to produce a good orange is a furphy. Given that the jumpers are made of synthetics, they can make the jumpers in any shade of the visible light spectrum. It's not like they're made of cotton, and will fade after a wash.

Yeah, there is that problem.

But, for mine, that is the only problem, alas, it's the biggest of all the hurdles.

The Dutch would disagree with orange being hideous seanpb.

I'm sold on the white. I think it maintains the simplicity and class associated with our truly classic jumper and monogram.

However...I am partial to orange, but, it would have to be a block colour like the one KK is suggesting than a fusion like Verb's attempt. Those blended kits rarely look any chop and if you mix orange with navy then you get a brown stain in the middle.

Happy with the white for the moment. Losing in an orange kit would be fodder for opposition supporters Maybe orange down the line...when we are in finals again.

As an aside...love to see a dark green kit with Aer Lingus, (or like), jumping on board as a one off sponsorship/jumper when the OhAilpins play their first senior game together. Get some heavy Irish exposure. Good for us, good for them. Good for leprechauns.

There are also sposorship, promotional and intersport promotional possibilities with the orange, for mine.

Promotional: The SES corporate colours are orange and Navy Blue detail. A match could be played once a year in tribute to Volunteers everywhere, with particular emphasis on the SES. (OK, I'm biased....)

Intersport promotions: The Denver Broncos colours are Navy/orange. Do some end of season/preseason training at Mile High, get some good press for the trip and checking out training/coaching techniques, and vice-versa. OK, So it's puff, but the same sort of puff that Collingwood and Essendon* have been making huge mileage from for years.

All these sorts of things embed the brand in people's memories and emotions, and could help lift merchandise sales, international exposure and fanbases....

Great marketing opprtunities with orange??? What are you going to do sell tickets to a competition to decide who officially has the ugliest jumper in the AFL?? Hawthorn or Carlton??

Some of you are just stuck in your own little dream world.

I didn't mind the idea of a predominately orange strip at first, then I remembered the last time I saw a team play home and away games in Navy and Orange.

So tell me, oh wise CarltonGod, he who is so good at rubbishing everything and everyone, but offers little in the way of ideas or constructive criticism.....what possible marketing ideas are there for a white jumper?

"Look kids, you can scribble on it with any colour pen!"

I gave 2 or 3 potential ideas above. Are you really that dumb, or have you practiced over the years? Or is it just that you go for the easy bagging out over reading the posts?

the best dutch shirt is their away one...that is an awesome shirt...and its white.

from a purely financial perspective i think the orange would be a disaster. i certainly wouldnt buy it if it was solid orange.

Orange

Why don't we create a florescent pink and purple one while we're at it?

How about light blue with a bright green trim?

Beautiful, not to mention it has history with the club :-D

I don't like the orange options, they look bad IMO.

the white without the blue panels on the side is the replica guernsey, if you wait a bit longer the official guernsey will be released and it will have the navy blue panels, just costs a bit extra

Ill get that one too then - Can never have enough Carlton Jumpers !!

So you abuse Smorgan for approving a jumper that is 'as boring as bat shit' and your 'oh so good' alternative is some hideous orange thing?????

And you are the one calling me dumb????????????????

You mention "marketing" opportunities of orange??? How about our away jumper be one that actually looks half decent that people will actually want to buy and wear that doens't make us look like the laughing stock of the competition?????

Calm down boys.

There are fans of both colourways...accept it and move on.

people may think the white is boring but it will be a big seller, people are more likely to wear it then the orange example, I think it is the first footy jumper in a long time that could be worn on a trip to the shops without making you feel like a fashion outcast

I'd be interested to hear bluehammers thoughts on the difference.
