obviously none of you can sense the sarcasm...i thought it was pretty palpable. hence the use of tongue in cheek expressions...o well.

i disagree with mr. wilde's remark that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

i well placed, well delivered, well timed sarcastic remark can be one of the funniest things you can hear. to believe otherwise is just shortsighted. depending on the person delivering the remark the comedy value can vary. if it is someone, for example, that you know doesnt like product A, but goes on a rant professing their love for product A in a convincing, yet knowingly sarcastic way, it can be very humourous.

im sure youve heard many deliciously witty sarcastic remarks in your time. many of which have made you smile wryly, made you chuckle, or indeed, made you release a good natured belly laugh. to say you havent is simply a lie.

why denigrate something that has brought so much joy to so many people? put smiles on faces, rumbled bellies with hilarity? seems unfair.

I understand you were trying to be sarcastic, but if i recall correctly in an earlier post you applauded Fev for nailing a hot model so I took it when you wrote the comment about GIbbs you were being serious

yeah, maybe your right. piracy and making saracastic remarks are both illegal practices.

Please show me this piracy thread, I'd love to put my 2 cents in...! :)

I can understand why people would side with Fev, at least as far as having an affinity with him is concerned... he's one of the only shining lights in recent years in what has otherwise been bleak times... I mean, can you imagine how things would have been in the past 2-3 years without Fev?

So people always like to put him in then positive... EVEN if he is (as far as we've heard) deeply in the wrong. The headlock incident? I thought it was funny and (like the 'Bingle' incident) I'm impartial to it - what he does is up to him, and doesn't concern or affect me - but it gets played out in the media... as I've mentioned numerous times before in this thread I'm only concerned about his ability to kick goals for the mighty Blues.

Put people shrugged off the headlock, ahh well, it's just our maligned superstar full forward... and they are doing the same with this now... he screws up, it might cost him the captaincy, might screw up his personal life - but we love him anyway... and if he is well behaved this year, and wins the Coleman again - and gives us hope (again) - who is really going to remember this?! *as far as we are concerned, him and his family are another issue...*

I thought the whole point of piracy was that you didn't need to put your 2 cents in?

gold mordan, gold. apparently, according to many esteemed talkingcarlton users, piracy is a winner for those who are having their work pirated. because they have enough money to begin with ppl have used the 'economies of scale' argument that the effect of piracy on them is negligible compared to say....hmmm, i dont know...they didnt really elaborate. some of them would even love to have their own work pirated! this is an astonishing gift of charity to the public...they dont mind about the bottom line, the fact their work is being enjoyed by many with some 3rd party enjoying all the financial spoils is plaudits enough...but as their arguments suggested: they dont need the money. they have enough. SHARE THE WEALTH.

btw, my post pertaining to sarcasm was laced with irony as was a case of "is he being sarcastic?" when i wasnt.

ok hammer, your point is well taken: the fevola issue is one that no one but those parties directly involved in should care to comment about. it isnt our place to pass judgement on an issue being reported thro the tabloids. for credibility all you need do is read any article that has been printed on the issue: 'alledgedly', 'a source close to' and 'reportedly' abound throughout all these articles.

if any member of this site was going through relationship, or indeed marital, issues i think most of us would be appalled if another member of the site accused them of something that either cant be proved, or wasnt done at all. what if then, with little factual evidence to support their claims they went on a spree consisting nothing but slander? the fact that alex fevola has sold her story to a womans rag is poor form...but most ppl have overlooked the fact she is profiting off the breakdown of her marriage. on that, if they get divorced, is that fee paid to her by the magazine counted in some sort of settlement package? it should as it is income earnt during their marriage. and as it cant be proved either way if he had his hand in the cookie jar.

o well. anyway, to sum up i dont really think it is our place to judge the situation as we are so far removed from it.
