Nothing to do with the number of games, more about the number of meaningful possessions, yes?

Correct me if I am wrong, but when he was delisted no other club wanted to touch him. So why should Carlton carry him over Joe Anderson for example?

that's one way of looking at it, another might be that we cut a player who performed well enough onfield to be named in the starting 22 every week, a player that prepared and trained with a level of professionalism that is sorely needed at a club with a youth policy, and above all a player that was extremely well liked by the playing group. We drafted a lot of kids in 06', which was indeed a breath of fresh air, but we also topped up with Cameron Cloke in aid of the fact that we have a severe lack of mature bodies. Extending Corey's contract by a year wouldn't have hurt anyone, and if Joe Anderson was banging down the door by 08' then we'd have a reason to cut Corey loose.

In my opinion the club is heading in the right direction with it's youth policy but with such a lack of senior players and bunch of kids who really aren't ready to be thrown to the wolves, we're odds on for another year of erratic and occasionally dismal performances, and even your 'knight in shining' GS knows that 07' has to show some onfield improvement from 06' otherwise this club headed for some serious problems. I'm not saying Corey could have necessarily changed the future of our club, but I'd love to know who out there thinks that C.Cloke was a better option?

Grant Thomas will be coaching Carlton next year...Pagan will be sacked by Round 14-16.
Atleast he has proven record of developing youth!

We keep hearing the same stories about Pagan and there has to be some sort of degree of truth to it.

If David Teague did not have an existing contract perhaps Cory would still be on the list.

interesting that it is made out everyone hates pagan and he is useless but there have been very few players voluntery leave the club

We haven't lost many players no, but we have spent the last 2 trade periods embarassing ourselves running around begging our own players to stay and threatening them with the Pre-Season Draft if they didn't sign.
Let's not forget that.

I think it would be fair to say it was off guard for Corey.

I get the feeling that Corey got the most out of himself and there wasn't much upside left at his age.

Someone probably made the decision that the development of a younger player would be a better option, and be more valuable in the long run for more than one reason.

If I'd been running the show we would have had 10 picks in the top 40 and therefore delisted a few more.
One thing for sure is we are a little way off letting go quality players to get our list down to 35 pre-draft.

Cloke wasn't at Carlton when we delisted him.

Also, Cory can't play in the ruck or key position, which is what Cloke was recruited for.

Bryan then- which meant we couldn't have taken Cloke in the PSD.

That still doesn't make Cory a ruckman.

Corey was unlucky to be delisted and I am sure he would have still been on the list if Teague was out of contract at the end of last season.

Not the most talented out there but he always put in.

He was the only one of all the delisted players who I thought was hard done by.

As far as his comments are concerned, they are not much different from what has been said in numerous threads here on TC.
