But is Cloke drafted to be a ruckman, or are we going to play him as a bits and pieces player who slips into say half back or half forward at the expense of another up and coming player if the ruck option doesn't work?

For God's sake......he's only 21 (till next week).....give him a chance!

He's not a nearly 25 year old!

Agree Warby, he's still developing and at least he'll provide some agression and a big body whilst our Hampson, Aisake, Jacobs brigade come up to speed/size for AFL footy.

There's plenty of time for bagging Cloke, put the knives away for now and give him his chance to prove himself.

I wish Clinton had have asked, "Cameron, are you going to make every effort to stop being a party boy and putting 100% into your football?".

Are interviews with Carlton players already scripted by our communications people? Every interview sounds the same to me. Same questions and answers.

Some of you guys are so "internet forum"

Lets consider Cameron Cloke:
- Drafted as a ruckman
- played as a ruckman by Collingwood
- picked up by Carlton to be a ........ ?

why are you all talking about him being a KPP?

He might only be 195cm... but that just means he's a SHORT RUCKMAN

Why are you all so in love with height that you want to completely re-make a player based on a couple of missing cms?

Wake up. We drafted him as a back-up ruck. He might pinch hit in other positions, but somehow I doubt Pagan is thinking "hmm... lets turn this guy into a CHB".

He'll be rucking for Carlton 195cm or no 195cm

well, apparently he is the next Eddie Betts

Ok, lets say Cloke gets picked in the firsts.... I wonder what his role would be?

Forward? Well, you'd think (hope) that between Fevola, Kennedy, Fisher and Waite they'd struggle to fit him in.... even Whitnall might be earmarked to play forward next year.

Back? Well, given Whitnall and Thornton were mainstays last year and more experienced there, and O'hAilpin and Bower came into the squad and did well... should we be moving them out of a spot for Cloke?

WAKE UP!!!! 195CM MEANS NOTHING!!!!

HE WAS DRAFTED AS A SHORT BACKUP RUCKMAN!!!!!

HE MIGHT BE A SHIT DECISION BUT HE'S A SHIT RUCK DECISION, NOT A KPP!!!!!!!!

IT'LL BE ON THE BALL OR ON THE BENCH... MAYBE 5 MINUTES IN A POCKET BUT NOT AS A RULE!!!!

Melbourne's Jeff White is ONLY 195cm....and he's OK....as Allan Jeans always said....."Football is 95% played above the shoulders"

We must remember Collingwood chose to get rid of Cloke and pinch Bryan off us.
We only selected Cloke to replace the loss of Bryan.

He'll play most of the year in the ants unless Ackland or McClaren get injured.

So, what you're saying is that we recruited Cameron Cloke to improve the fortunes of the Bullants?

No

he's a contingency if/when we have injuries in the ruck... and to spend most of the season in the bullants, unless he does something extraordinary

Yeah, we are short on ruckmen. He's still young he can turn things around but had Bryan not left we wouldn't have taken him.

correct

and if Bryan on the list he'd have had the same minimal chance of getting a game in the firsts.

But here's the facts:

we have some good tall kids
we now have a couple of of good ruck kids

No need to recruit someone else in their place. I'd rather see Edwards looked at as a tall option in the firsts than Cloke. Or Austin for that matter.... or Jamison..... or anyone.

Cloke is a contingency. A guy with a "senior" body (some would say TOO senior) who is way down the pecking order, thus giving kids an opportunity while providing some structure to the list as a backup.

I thought the loss of Bryan was due to him (or his manager???) making contract demands that the club thought were not worth giving in to.

Absolutely correct, and good on the club for not paying a ridiculous amount of money and time for a player.

If Collingwood want to pay Bryan an exhorbitant amount that is their bad luck.
