Hey don't go fuelling the fire Deano, didn't Woewodin get dropped to the twos last week?

Don't even know why I'm replying to this rubbish but Elroy have you actually found out if Wiggo is CONTRACTED for next year because if he is he ain't going nowhere! Not that I think he be gone anyway I'd even say he would be one of Pagans favourites.
Anyway I'II have $100 with you!

Could still be traded.

Wiggins vs Hulme vs Franchina

Amazingly, all at exactly the same level of performance after 56 games.

I note that the Franga fell away on the graph after this point. Was that when he started to tag? When was the Winmar game?

I will hyave to have another look at the last few games. My impression was that Wiggins was one player that really stood up when the going was tough.
Have noticed a couple of clangers but no worse that average for our young side and certainly made up for by Wiggo by doing the courageous stuff that lifts his teammates.

Put me down for a Darwin Stubby Elroy when Wiggins stays at the Blues for next year and long into the future.

Wiggins is the type of player that, doesnt get alot of the ball, but still has an impact in the game, with his tackles, shepards and 1%ers.

When he starts to get the possesion game happening, he will be a hard player to match up on, he is as hard at the ball and man as Aaron Hamill, and were not letting another one of these guys leave.

Jarusa

Great graph but limited analysis

I would be more interested in the trend line. From game 25 to 50 Wiggins is the only player to demonstrate an upward trend. Hulmey was flat and Franchina was falling away.

I'd take Wiggins any day above either of the two former Carlton greats.

P.S lets not take anythng away either from someone who has donned the jumper for 50 games plus for the blues. We all would have loved that same experience except for our fat behinds.

Sometimes I leave the analysis out just to see how others interpret what is shown. Also, it is pretty rough in terms of what it shows, i.e. assists and effective/innefective disposal stats, punches, smothers would be nice. For that reason I generally do not use these types of graphs for defenders as it just misses so much of what they do.

FWIW, I reckon that graph shows the Wiggler is on the improve, I also think it shows that he needs to improve a little bit more if he wants his career to go past the 100 game mark. I really like Wiggins and the way he plays his footy and have no doubt we will see that improvement given an injury free run and adequate game time.

With regards to Hulme, the graph shows that he was well on his way to becoming a very good midfielder, however where you see the peak turn downwards is when he did his knee in 2001. That injury took away one of his biggests assets which was his pace, and from that point he could not regain his form.

I know the game you are talking about but do not know the year, and not sure when he was initially given his tagging role either. Somebody will though. :) That was helpful wasn't it?

1998 was the Winmar game.

A few months ago I was looking through Dad's study and found an Illawarra Mercury from the Monday after the match. It talked about how Stan Alves was thinking about dropping Elvis or something. It would have only been one of Franga's first 30 games or so.

I think its fairly safe to say that football has been a fragment of its current glory before the arrival of Wiggins.

Simon Wiggins to football = Wyld Stallions to rock

I cant believe there are 8 pages on this guy. He is a dud, a hack full stop. If we want the blues to get to the top again then players like wiggo will have to go. He may stay on next year but I guarantee one thing, once we are a power again in the next 2, 3 or however many years it takes Wiggo wont be there. I know it, he knows and so does Pagan.

Howhe is getting all these accolades for some of the good things he has done in the last few weeks is beyond me.... he should be doing that every friggin week.... oh shit he did a good pass to Lance on the left foot last week.... big deal... do it every week, stop the clangers and dont look so confused when you flower get the ball Wiggo.....

and when we can replace you, we will.... like in the next 4-6 weeks please Dennis

If Pagan knows it, then why does he keep playing him?

Deano - hit nail head!!

Wiggo is one of only a few rough nuts in the CFC team at the moment. Great tackler, does the 1%, and is hard at it. Pagan loves that kinda stuff.
Me thinks Pagan will always have a spot for him in the team. He is certainly no HACK....

You can build a Premiership dynasty around Wiggins - bax you obviously just don't get it

So why did he get rid of Hulme & Franchina?

Lack of pace plus age...

Wiggins has pace, and age is on his side
