Could be a good addition as we know that in short spurts, McLaren and Bryan are very competant, add Ackland to that who has proven he can play the game and i dont think it is that bad a move.

While we dont have nearly the most formiddable rucking division in the AFL i think we certainly will have a competetive division, and remember, we are basically signing up a ruckman that can back up for Aisake by the end of season 2007.

:wink:

I'd rather have;
Gibbs, Renouf and Ackland

ahead of;

Luenberger, ?? and ??

I think we all live in this utopia where we get a quality player in the PSD, but it very rarely happens.

Here's hoping he can help us smack the saints and give them another reminder of what a tosspot grumpy-grant was.

What worries me is the 3 year contract. It's going to set a dangerous precedent - i mean every player is going to demand a 3 year deal of us given that we are giving one to a PSD player!!!

No, actually I am quite pleased, we had 36 listed players and there was a sugestion that young Ferguson was to be delisted, which would be a great shame as the kid can play.

Now he will get his chance to shine, and Ackland would not have seen much game time unless Gardiner breaks down. Brooks will also now get a run.

All in all, a good result and I don't wish Ackland any harm.

He is a bit of a wuss though.
:P

he may be shit but at least he manages to get on the park

Hope St kildas workcover is paid up as Gardiner and Hamill will be giving it a good crack.

Fancy thinking Gardiner is going able to carry the ruck or even a large part of it !!!!

Brooks! :lol:

Easily the worst ex-Port ruckman on an AFL list.

I agree. I will approve of the Ackland selection provided we actully draft a ruckman in the national draft this year to show that we're not just perpetuating the ruck problem indefinately. If we do that, then I'm fine with it, particuarily given half the people saying he's not a no.1 ruck and he's too short were the ones emailing the club a few weeks back threatening to not renew memberships if we recruited Gardiner. You cant rule out one of our limited options and then complain when you don't like what's left.

Ackland can be the biggest hack in the world, but I'd rather watch him go around for 22 games next year than Deluca or Bryan.

Good luck Cain.
