Needs to and will stay in the team.

We lack hardness in this team and he will stay. Until we get some in and under players with skill as well then Wiggins will always be in the mix.

He is going ok I reckon.

its so disappointing to see him fight hard to win the ball and then turn it straight over with poor foot skills .. happens far too often for my liking

eg.. the passage where he beat 3 hawks to win a free kick .. then kick it straight to opposition who of course hit a target inside their forward 50 ..

i hope he can improve .. but still seems the same as previous years

.. go blues ..

Go Kernafides! - At least you've got the balls to diss the apparent flavour of the month.

People are posting that Wiggins played well? Was anyone who is reading this post at the game on Friday? Were you awake?

I find it very surprising that so many people here, people who know and love Carlton as much as I do, actually like Wiggins.

If you want to get excited over young talent at Carlton, like I am, look to Houlihan, Waite, Fisher, Walker, Simpson, Carrazzo and Betts. They are the future of the Blues.

Wiggins will be chasing and tackling brilliantly for Tasmania next season!

Some of us are capable of seeing contribution beyond the stats sheet. As for Wiggo playing for Tassie next year, I guess time will tell. Pagan seems happy enough with his contribution for him to get a game every week.

At worse Pagan is using him as an example to others. If you try your guts out , put it all on the line, live eat drink and breath footy/carlton he will give you a chance to prove yourself.

Proving oneself is something i believe Wig has done. The team plays better when he is on. He sets the tone. He changes the body language of the team. A goer he is. Plays well when the heats on. Turns it over a bit. Saves the day alot. Loved by his teammates, coach and many fans.
Unfortunate surname.

Wiggins = Spirit

Brave call Elroy....I'm a fan of wiggo's because he has courage and the right attitude to make it as a AFL senior player. I understand what you are saying and would agree his skills can be spasmodic and he does commit errors however he is improving..his left pass was a ripper and while he improves I will continue to back him..
As others have said you need your blue collar workers to help your elite .

Re: Clangars....Chris Johnson from FB kicked it straight to Jason Johnson of Essendon* during the Brisv Bombers game...I'm a a fan of Chris Johnsons but he turns the ball over a lot...he just looks more polished doing it which gives you a different impression....

Elroy, Wiggins pass to set up Lance for his second goal in the last quarter was pretty ordinary for a bloke kicking on his non preferred foot

Elroy - how can you say you like Wiggins when you have called him a hack who should never play for Carlton again?

At evens!! Less than 3% of all players make 200 games. Seeing as Wiggo already has over 50 you should give brad about 10 to 1.

There's been a sh*tload of good honest Carlton warriors over the years who never played 200 either.

All teams need their blue collar workers as well as their superstars.

Wiggins will never be a star, but never was Dean Rice or Matty Hogg - both those guys played an important role in a premiership team.

Personally, I am of the belief that Wiggins has much improvement in him, with a bit more gametime. He will have his good games and his bad games, but his good games will come more often if he is left in the team.

6 years ago people were calling Matty Lappin a hack because he played one good game in every 5. 6 years later his bad games are very rare.

Thats a little different to saying he won't be at the club next season. Not that many players do make it to 200 games. How about you put yourself on the line and tell us how many you think he will play?

I reckon you'll find some people here who will take you up on that...Pagan might even take you up on it himself.

I will buy everyone on TC who believes Simon will be here in 2006 a beer if he is on the list next year. Simply state why you belive he will still be required.

I think you'll find that unless he improves dramatically he's a goner. I know a lot of people like him here, for his endeavour, one percenters, tenacity etc - which are all excellent qualitites in football, but you've got to actually be able to play the game.

I did see Wiggins' left foot pass to Whitnall, and the sad thing about that is that's the most skilful act he's performed whilst at Carlton. Hitting a bloke from 20 metres on your opposite foot whilst under pressure should be a pre-requisite in the AFL.

I said I would like to see Wiggins be successful even though I believe he's a hack because that's what makes this game great, seeing blokes improve from where they were. I used to think Beaumont was a hack - but I enjoyed seeing him improve to the point that one year he was close to All-Australian.

I'll happily eat my words if Simon can retain his spot in the team and the list. I just think that at the moment he is a hack, with little room for improvement. He's not at the required standard, and wouldn't get a game at any other AFL club.

A NON BELIEVER !!!!!!!

Wiggins is on his way to becoming the greatest Carlton player of all time. He has nice hair, good table manners and actually won the match for us on Friday night.

When we needed a goal to keep our momentum going who was it that hit Whitnall on the chest lace out? Was it the sublime skills of Houlahan? No! Was it the Million dollar boots of Koutafides? No! Was it the the rangy right foot of Nick Stevens? No!!!

It was the footballing equivalent of the archangel Gabriel called WIGGINS.

You are not even worthy to barrack for the blues if the Wiggler is not your idol.

What happens if you're right? Does everyone who puts their name down have to buy you a beer? Just curious.

You'll be doing more than eating your words if he improves...you're buying everyone here a beer.

He will still be required because Denis says he's still required or he'd be playing out his time in the VFL with David Clarke.

One of the more un-intelligent posts on TC for 2005.

There were only two players who could hold their head up, at half time, knowing they were doing their job..

Those two were Waitey and Wiggo.

Wiggo's attack on the ball and man was ferocious. Didn't see the Port game so I can't comment on that, but that is easily the best game I have seen Simon Wiggins play for some time now.

Time and time again he put his body on the line for the greater good and was applauded every time for it.
