Collo is the worlds biggest diplomats the EGM in 2003 showed that.

provided he doesnt shoot his mouth of in the 60 minutes special thate coming up, i think its good that the club is being level headed...

NB have a mate in publicity for channel nine who said all the female reporters refused to do the interview - the producers agreed....so it will be whats his name.... (sorry still in antibiotic induced haze)

Not a fan of it. Backward step by the club, one that may prompt the wrong emotions for such a sad day in the club's history.

Keep him away from the club.

But will he light-up when he's seated in the stand?

What will they be serving in the snack bars? Because i think all the chips are on Cammo's shoulders

lets keep it civil and save the abuse for those more deserving - umpires, opposition players and supporters etc....

I hate Jack but hate accomplishes very little once change has occurred. I'm happy for him to be invited to the game and to have a place in our history so long as he has no hand in our future!

Wow, 2 posts now where you've had a go at me without actually disagreeing with me. Twit.

Martin Bryant was a fairly big part of the Port Arthur massacre in '96, wouldn't you say? Don't see him being invited to nights for the Alannah & Madeline foundation though...

Jack Elliot was president for 20 years of which 17 were pretty successful for this club. He (like many) didn't see the change coming through in the 80's and never moved on - we paid the price. He was arrogant and could be rude true, but you could never doubt Jack was Carlton through and through. The events of the last 4 years have been a sorrowful time for many at the club but I sense the wheel is now starting to turn.

Well put spf.
Big Jack's been a huge part of the CFC history at Princes Park, and that is what we are farewelling, all the good times and the bad times and all the inbetween thats makes up the great culture of the Carlton Football Club.

Well done Collo, any Carlton people, whatever their failings should be a part of the last game, and well JE was a pretty big part of Carlton for many years and I myself don't believe he ever acted with the intentions of hurting the club, however it did pan out.

This isn't exactly a big deal. He has been attending games at OO since he quit the presidency in 2002 quite often and has kept using his corporate box in the Heroes stand (still sits in the stand that used to have his name on it!!!   just funny for some reason... :? )

I have run into him a stack of times at Carlton games at OO. Said G'day a few times. Still an arrogant son of a bitch and still busy trying to chat up the girls. He smokes outside the stadium nowadays. He still has every right to be there, whether we like it or not. Don't know why this has caused a stir now given the above...

Martin Bryant made no positive contribution to their lives. To compare Jack to Martin Bryant is pretty average. Jack got too arrogant at the end of his reign, but for 15yrs there were a lot of positives and in my mind he should be welcome back at the club. 20yrs at 30hrs a week is a lot of time volunteered from a man who could have been using that time in a more beneficial way to himself.

Anyone have stats on Presidents and the time they served? I doubt anyone is even close.

He did plenty *for* the club, but i don't think many other President's in any sporting arena have influenced clubs in such a negative way either.

It's the whole Liberal party affiliation that i've never approved of ;)

Jack didnt deliberatly stuff the club did he.Just plain incompetence. Now i can relate to that.Couldnt run a pie stall myself.Jack always did what he thought what was right at the time.We all have 20/20 vision in hindsight.Same goes for Hall and Lofts.Get em all back and show all those scumbags knocking us that if you are Carlton you are Carlton always.Anyone who put there hand up for this great club, which the aforementioned did,no matter what there shortcomings can stand next to me anyday.

Micky - the reason that Carlton was hammered by the AFL is because the actions of the board at the time was a very deliberate scheme designed to rort the salary cap system. It's like the greed got to him - maybe it disfigured him as well like Darth Vader?

Anyone else think his head looks like he's been repeatedly stung by bees?

I think I am over it. Elliot has no further influence at Carlton. He had the humiliation of losing a bitter personal campaign and haveing his stand renamed. He is bankrupt and not legally able to serve as company director.
He has done his penance.
Jack done things his way for 20 years at Carlton. Ethics and regulations mean little to him. I am sure his intention was not to run down the club. He is a product of the greedy 80s that failed to change.
The members and officials at the club have to take responsibility for letting Jack run the club as he did. We all applauded his swagger and anti-AFL rhetoric. Once the NCA charges against him were dropped on technicality a succession should have been planned cos things dropped quickly after that.

Let him attend. He did serve he club for a long time and did things the best way he knows how. Its no good for clubs to have factions and feuds.

Buzz without getting in to all that again - that is a pretty sweeping statement. Perhaps instead of "all" should read "some".
