Because they know what they are doing.

Who do you think was hurt most by the draft penalties? The players - nope, they still get paid the sal cap. The club - nope, it continues on.

The players were hurt. They lose 18-19 games a year. Maybe that's why they want to leave.

if you hurt so much you wouldn't leave would you? Wouldn't you try and make it better? They don't lurv CFC like we do!

I'm confused.
If Hawthorn dont rate Thornton highly, why are they giving him a million dollars? :?

Who knows?!

That's got me buggered as well. It's the same with Jason Johnson.
The Bombers want a first round pick for him but were only prepared to offer him a one year deal.

SEN just mentioned that a listener witnessed Thornton at a restaurant with several Hawthorn players last night. Guess he is back in town.

I also hear sorbent are interested in being the player sponsor if he stays at Carlton.

Nah, it was David Schwarz.

Laza,

Let's assume that the rumour that Essendon* have offered pick 20 for Thornton is true, and you'll have to beat it to get him.

Would you still want him, and want would your suggestion be for a trade if you did?

If Adelaide are keen on Spider and Russell wants to go home, how about this...

Everitt + Russell > Adelaide
Meeson + Pick 24 > Carlton
Thornton > Hawthorn

Carlton
GET: Pick 24 + Meeson
LOSE: Thornton + Russell

Hawthorn
GET: Thornton
LOSE: Pick 24

Adelaide
GET: Everitt + Russell
LOSE: Meeson

By which he means that we would overlook Thornton in the PSD in favour of Essendon*.

We just lost Russell as well in that deal PJ, for Meeson and pick 24.

Too much to give up for too little in return.

My idea of forcing Sydney to offload someone else for a high second rounder in order to secure Everitt, and having the two second rounders passed onto us is still the best shot we have at getting a good deal, unless Essendon* just wants to hand over 18 and 20 straight up.

Carlton lose Russell as well in that scenario. Not sure it stacks up so well then. A You could view Russell and Meeson as a straight swap, then we only get 24 for Thornton.

YET its more realistic than any others, and has more legs, except the "Everitt to Adelaide" bit

I'd also suspect, PJ, that with all our huffing and puffing about T-bird we'll only accept a deal thats stacked in our favour, and this one is ok but slightly undervalues our hand

Pick 24 and Meeson isn't satisfactory compo for T-Bird?

EVERITT IS SHIT!!!

Let me just say this to no one in particular:

Everitt is 33
He does nothing around the ground
He can no longer play forward
He can tap and thats it, and he's quite predictable at that. He does hte little lay off that quite often the opposition can read and shark he's that predictable

Everitt isn't worth ANY pick. Not a first rounder not a 100th rounder. He's a shit old player who barely tries and has lost all his ability.

ANY club who wants him have rocks in their head, or haven't watched him play for a year.

If Hawthorn want pick 15 for Everitt and offered pick 24 for Thornton, then they're insulting us. I would be straight on the phone to Thornton saying "look mate... this is their attitude about it.... they've absolute cauliflower and there's no way you could expect us to deal with these motherf***ers"
