Camelboy if Fev was uncontracted at this time last year he wouldn't be with us anymore.

Thornton's manager is his employee. Anything his manager says is a reflection of what Thornton wants.

Same goes for all player managers.

Unless the manager is stronger than the player.

I think we all need to revisit things after trade week, then the true picture will be clearer.

Remember that Lance was being traded this time last year, but it didnt happen.

I dont know what will occur with this, but could be that Thornton has to end up reneging on what he has said earlier, or else we might have an additional first round pick.

I don't remember Whitnall's Manager ever saying he needs a "fresh start". I'm sorry but those comments by Thornton's Manager have really shit me no end. He can pack his bags and keep walking for all I care. The Manager is the extension, the official spokesman for the player so they can bugger off, no reneging, no apologies, goodbye.

That's probably a fair enough comment I guess, and certainly an understandble conclusion to reach. But perhaps there's an element of truth in Mrs Caz's comment above too.

Thornto gave his manager PoA. That says it all.

He said to his manager "you do the thinking and talking for me, but make sure I look smart, and independent of you. Oh by the way, tell me what you tell the media, as soon as you can, so I know what's going on. OK? Oh yeah, and tell Carlton I still want to play for them. The rest is up to you though. OK?

Before you go, can you have a look at my watch. I can't tell what date it is. Preseason is happening soon, and I don't want to miss out on training with me mates. Gee it was good in Thailand with the Blueboys. See ya. Ta".

Lance never stated he wished to leave. He chose to stick with the club- unlike campo & Thornton.

I don't understand why he's taken all this time to say it's not about money but he wants a "fresh start". If that was always the case he should have announced that weeks ago & not bothered negotiating. Did something happen while he was away with his soon to be ex-team mates?

In a way, this is worse than Hamill. Thornton wants to leave the sinking ship and not stick it out. If I recall when Hamill left, the club was obviously in not such bad shape.

Just caught up reading this thread and i can not believe how we are all wasting our time talking about a bloke who doesn't want to be at our club.

Over rated good player in a really bad team.
Now he'll be an over rated good player in a young developing team.

Buckley left the Lions to play in finals and premierships, and we know how successful he was.

Let him go... And when Hawthorn become the Collingwood and we become the Brisbane . We 'll all sit back and love it..

Malouf said the Blues were extremely disappointed with Thornton's stance, as he had previously said he wanted to stay with Carlton and the club made him what it believed was a good offer.

I'ld say this goes beyond the Lance and Lappin situation....I'll be stunned if T-Bird stays..BUT we should get a VERY high pick...this isn't like Campo.

I'ld say we get a rippe deal with ANYONE! Or it's off to the PSD....if a decent plaeyr has come through, so be it...otherwise pick him up...and don't give me this "he doesn't want to play for us crap"....if he doesn't want to play....fine...he'll be de-registered and we won't even have to pay the PSD contract we pick him up with....he can ask his friend Croad how it works....that's Trent's brother...

Who knows?

Maybe Thornton has dictated every word his manager has said?

Maybe he has complete faith in his manager to handle the negotiations?

Maybe he gave his manager a mandate to handle the negotiations and he doesn't know how to control him?

The point is that we do not know.

Just like a lot of things that happen at the club...we do not know.

Yeah he's been shocking and I bet Brisbane are glad he left.

Some of you guys expect loyalty from a player who has had no help for the last 4 years.

Loyalty works both ways; if the player is going to hold his end of the bargain up, then I expect the club to do the same.

Camporeale kept cheating, getting his 20 soft kicks off HB - thereby not being particularly loyal, pocketing his 500K/year. The club looked after him well, he didn't return the favour.

Thornton's given us good service - a lot of you are rubbishing him just because he's announced that he's leaving. Half of you were wanting him to stay. You're only rubbishing him because he's announced he wants out. The only decent thing is to offer him a reasonable offer and, sorry 150K is not a reasonable offer.

Buckley left chasing success. He never got the ultimante prize. Sure he might be happy with a Brownlow but never satisfied his ambition.

Thorton is no Buckley firstly and secondly he's moving sideways . This move to Hawthorn isn't a step up.

And for the record do you really think history tells us Bucks was missed from Brisbane? No.

And history will tell, the CFC will not miss Thornton.
