Unfortunately short term thinking would stop Carlton doing such a trade but it would be a great signal to the footballing world and supporters we have finally embraced the system.

There is an arguement that Thornton might not be the right player to trade but you never get anywhere if you don't take risks.

I agree.

Lets trade Lance! :-D

Coutts is on holidays. Wilson is probably doing 3 roles about now...

I know we're all in need of good news but its probably better to wait for it all to be signed, confirmed, dated, cross, post scripted and dusted. Plus perhaps theres more bad news to come so they can weigh up the 2 together?

I'm going to join in the chorus of dissatisfaction.

Why is Coutts on holiday when this is one of the busiest times of year for press-releases, announcements, etc?

Cos he has done sweet f all all year and is knackered. BC you try doing nothing for a year and see how tired you get 8)

I dont know... I dont approve leave down at the Club!

I think the normal busiest time is in a couple of weeks time but of course the way we are at the moment 'all hands on deck' wouldnt hurt. Some Directors cancelled holidays to be around now to sort things out.

They never announced Hartlett's resigning (1 year). Their policy is generally to do them in small groups or all at once.

I dont know these things sorry. My only comments in this thread are in support of the football club who after years of cost cutting have 3 people, 2 monkies and a WW2 engima machine running the joint. They dont have time to scratch themselves let alone be on the front foot for all of your needs. I just think people forget that we are paupers in every sense of the word these days.

They said Hawthorn have offered him a lot more money and that Carlton and T-Birds management are still quite a way apart in terms of an agreement

They don't forget Molsey they just decide not to listen or remember so they can carry on if every little thing is the complete end of the world.

If it's 'Black' it should be 'White and vice versa. Misery makes most happy and cheap shots are a joy.

Why do we have to sign them up straight away?

Why can't we sit on them during trade week?

What is the rush?

Where are they exactly going to go between now and trade week? To the SANFL or WAFL?

PSD where we get nothing for them perhaps....Thornton, Fisher would be high commodity items for the likes of Essendon*, Hawthorn....they have the money to give them what they want....its fine taking the tough stance but if you back them into a corner too far we might lose one and get nothing in return.
If they want a stupid amount of money then fine..they can walk but I think what we are offering Thornton is insulting and I can understand his manager looking around...
You would expect a good administration to re-sign both of them....or a bad one to trade him for a rubbish draft pick and a Sam Cranage...say Nick Ries...
