:x What would that bimbo Wilson know, she only ever mentions Carlton when she is potting us. How would she know whether Gardner is worthwhile or not, when has she ever coached an AFL side? Have a look at today's age, she couldn't resist having a shot at Carlton about Dennis Pagan in her article about Grant Thomas - she never lets up.

Give Dennis some credit. We need another ruckman now that French has retired and Gardner might have some currency. If his body stacks up and Carlton offers him a chance as first ruck, don't you think he would jump at the chance to play AFL again and shove it up the doubters.

Dennis has been coaching kids and misfits for years and you can back it in that any agreement with Gardner will contain a massive performance and specific behavoural element that will mean that Gardner would get didly squat if he misbehaved or did not perform. Also let's give Gardner a bit of credit and think that being given a second chance and being away from the Perth nightclub scene might actually lead to him concentrating on his footy and see him reaching the full potential a no.1 draft pick should attain.

He could be one of the best pickups for Carlton in years and spearhead our move up the ladder.

Wilson just does not know what she is rabbting on about

I dont think that Gardiner if he comes to Carlton will be much better than Karl Norman was.

The only good thing about Denis Pagan looking at Gardiner is that it means that he will probably take Gibbs instead of Luenberger in the first pick of the draft.

Surely he would be able to use pick 17 or 19 for a ruckman, that would probably be young, but would be in considerably better physical shape than Gardiner with his shot knees and depressed persona.

You're kidding right?

It doesn't matter about the behavioural element; the fact is if he stuffs up, then he costs a spot on the list that we could have used for another player.

He's medically shot too - or have you been under a rock for a few years? He hasn't played in the ruck for at least a couple of years because he's had posterior cruciate ligament injuries.

She only mentions Carlton in a negative light because that's all there is to talk about wiith us at the moment.

And there are no AFL coaches on this site, but you don't have to be one as plenty here can identify what a waste of time Gardiner will be.

I think Pagan's paddock would make a massive comeback at St Kilda if he went there. Imagine how the paddock would work with Riewolt in the centre, and Milne yapping around at his feet.

They should make a big play for Pagan I reckon.

No.....really.......

St Kilda needs a boost to their rucking stocks thats for sure.

MAYBE HE IS GOING TO ST KILDA AFTER ALL!

Talk about killing two birds with the one stone. :P

With apologies to Elwood Blues for selective editing. And no, I don't work for the Herald Sun

I agree Ponk. I don't know why Pago gave up the paddock at Carlton only after 3 years...

Not surprising really. Everyone in the world knows that Pagan's had it as a coach, except our friggin' Board!

Hopefully the article is a little"inaccurate". Given Pagan would be the only experienced coach "available" it does really say something about him if the article's correct.

It's sad when St Kilda seem to be going about this process quite professionally, interviewing the widest range of candidates. Whilst we are stuck with either the Pagan or Mitchell options. It's really quite sad that we can't even get our act together to choose a decent coach.

Actually it says "is thought to have been ruled out" which actually means

"Caro thinks he's been ruled out" which in turn is Caro saying

"I thinks he should be ruled out and the Age will write negatively about the Saints decision should they happen to go down the Pagan road".

If you call interviewing for coashes two weeks before the team plays in a final professional, then so be it. Would they have sacked him IF they won the premiership?

In some respects this is actually no better or worse than the way Carlton has handled their review.

What does it say about Pagan? That St Kilda reckon he's a shit coach? That an approach was made through his manager and Pagan said there was no way he was walking out on a contract? Or not really anything at all about Pagan but you can interpret it to suit your feelings about Pagan pretty much any way you want?

why would stKilda hand the club over to a coach with no man management skills?

They came to a decision that he wasnt the right man for the job and they acted swiftly.
What do you mean "no better or worse than the way Carlton has handled their review"???

Gotta be kidding!!! How come they're talking to Sheldon, while at Carlton it's Sheldon who?

Everything in that article made me jealous.

I'll bet that in 1958, Collingwood people also thought that their history will get them another premiership in the next few years.
