No, sacking Blight was a great decision ... appointing him was the mistake, he didn't want it, they put the pressure on him and persuaded him to do it, then he couldn't motivate himself properly.

It's not good enough just to have a couple of premierships on your CV. It takes commitment (among many other things).

Very true.

Their board has put so much spin on their crap from day 1. They had to hang on to Thommo because of how it would look if the sacked him after their debacle with Blight. Their hole was getting deeper and knew there was only 1 way out. The list has been run down and now needs a mini re-build to be capable of winning a flag.

Thomas has done nothing to improve that list whatsoever!!

I think that you will find that the crap going on at MC Hammer Park last week was a serious distraction for the media that absolutely no-one was looking at Moorabbin to see or hear any rumblings.

If any one of the journos at the herald sun or the age was even remotely interested, then one of the Board at the Saints would have sang a merry tune about GT and his sacking.

Where I was coming from was if we delist/trade 8-9 players, took 6 kids in the draft, that would give us 22 kids under 21, 9 x 22-23 yo, followed by 2 more kids from the rookie draft that would give us a total of 33 kids under 23 of a total 44 players (with Kouta and Lappin as the only 30 year olds in the last season in 2007).

If that was the case then what if the choice in the PSD were:

Doyle?
Akermanis?
Keating?
Laycock?

Would it be such a big burden to nab 1-2 of them in the PSD, if they were the best available? I would, unless there was superior talent available than them in the PSD.

The point is we will have a lot of kids next year in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year, followed by another 4-5 from the 2007 draft, it wont do us as much harm as it has in the past if we recruit some experience from so called retreads. As long as we keep our draft picks on the best available 6 kids.

How does Akermanis go into the PSD when he has a contract?

Brisbane fail to negotiate a trade then Aker pulls the old restraint of trade scenario . AFL has a quiet word to Brisbane then Aker is free to walk into the PSD.

thats the only way it will happen

Not interested in a player who does not to play for the team. Aker has stated that he is not interested in coming to Carlton.

Piss off then!

Thanks Sydney.

The point is that there may be desirable players in the PSD. Just because our record with the PSD is piss poor, doesn't mean it has to be that way...and I'm into taking a punt, if we stick to our youth policy and draft 6 kids.
