Who ever the head coach may be?????

Nah, sorry.
The head coach should be chosen as part of the selection process as well.
There is no need for Pagan to be making any decisions on trades or draft picks.
He can prove himself to be the best candidate in an interview process amongst other candidates if he's so good.

A bit of free publicity on SEN wouldn't go astray. I doubt they would give it much of a positive plug, but any discussion on it ala the sackpagan website is good.

Blue Vain, it's a poorly constructed sentence.

Don;t worry, I'm definitely of the opinion that especially the senior coach should be chosen on recommendation by an independent panel assessing all potential candidates.

I think I'll change the sentence to:

"The coaching staff of this football club, especially the head coach, should be appointed after an orderly selection process conducted by the club"

Is everyone OK with that?

What are you going to say when they set up the panel and Parkin and Walls say Pagan should be retained? or will it be Gerard Healy who is a mate of Mitchell?

Considering members are the ones who can force change, I think the petition would look so much better if people actually put their real names and membership number on it. Otherwise their is not much weight to it IMO.

I don't think you can include this - we do not know how many members are users of this site, nor if 'we the undersigned' represents them.

I assume the 5000 was left in as a placeholder and will be substituted for the actual number of members that give you permission to represent them?

....good idea, but need to be careful

Faire enough. 5000 was a number I just remembered being mentioned when talking of the TC readership.

Does anyone have a gauge on how many people read this website?

It would be good to get a unanimous push from this website. It may bring out those waiting in the wings to finally form a ticket and challenge. If everyone on this site backed them, it would be a good way to winning the election.

This club needs change. But not reactionary substitution of one bunch of idiots for another. We need to stick to some sensible PRINCIPLES.

The thing that's truly sad is that our club needs a guiding set of principles that are actually basic common sense. :(

Danny, I've got a few ideas but not much spare time to act on them.

Firstly, if these principles can get the broad support of the TC readership, I would love to get copies to all potential board members. Tell them that if you can act on these principles 'we're with you'.

Even if the current fools running the club were to view these maybe they would begin to follow a sensible agenda (unlikely, I know).

Secondly, it can be e-mailed to the media as the perspective of Carlton supporters on what needs to be done to get us back on track. But again, I'm reluctant to e-mail it on behalf of TC, since I'm not a moderator and I can't claim to represent everyone here.

If anyone has any ideas, please let them be known.

Basically, this club has a 'policy deficit' - there is no agenda, no plan, no vision. The Principles I wrote can be used as a new agenda or policy for the club supported by thousands of members, if publicized properly.

It has a policy deficit because the board is running around like headless chooks, pinching pennies on things the Club does need to do, yet devoting time and effort to other areas.

The Club doesn't market itself to members, especially interstate ones. It doesn't actively search for sponsors, and opportunities.

And to top it off, the board is filled with grey men with no vision or idea of what it takes to communicate with The Club's supporters, and other dimbulbs like that who are more interested in who's going to wear the number their father wore... than interested in how the Club is going to stop running around in ever diminishing circles and go forward off the field.
