I think if we lure him into Carlton we would be much better off. He has played in four grand finals and won three. He is respected from everyone in the league and i think the younger players at Carlton would rather listen to a true champion, especially marc Murphy :p. any thoughts?

You're Michael Voss.

You can stay on at Brisbane as a player.

Or stay on at Brisbane as an assistant coach.

You can spend a year or two in the football media.

Or you can quite probably have your pick of all 16 AFL clubs in an assistant coaching capacity.

Why in hell would you take a job working under a coach who's hated by half his players and everyone at board level, at a club half-run by the AFL and half-run by a bunch of people who've never run a club before?

Oh, plus you'll have the most antiquated facilities outside of North Melbourne in the AFL, and you won't have half the staff you're used to at the Lions.

Seriously - until we replace the idiot incumbents, getting someone the calibre of Voss is just not going to happen.

I think that it would be fantastic to get Vossy down to the club.

I'm just not sure that anyone would want to come to the Blues at the moment.

Anyone who signed on before this situation has played out would be mad.

I agree...maybe if Graeme Allan had signed on we might have had a slight chance but you would think it would be very hard to prise Voss out of Qld...and as John said...why would he want to come the madhouse that is the Carlton football club...

i agree why would he come to Carlton

But on the flip side there arent that many assistants jobs, a lot of them already spoken for, and maybe he wouldnt mind checking another club out.

Maybe, just maybe :) :) :)

Come to Carlton as an assistant and you may just find yourself in the big chair in a year or two.

Didn't Voss grow up as a Carlton supporter? Might be enough to get him over the line.

sorry. but only an idiot would join an organisation with as many structural problems as the carlton football club.

hawthorn - they have upside. a stable board, a young list, and a vision for where they're heading. a new assistant coach can join them safe in the knowledge that the only way is up, and they'll look good as a consequence.

carlton? jesus.h.christ... anything could happen. pagan could chuck a wobbly because the board appointed you without his consent. the board could be chucked out at an EGM and the entire coaching staff would be under immediate scrutiny. the club's CEO could be sacked. your recruiting person.... who's HE going to be? Is the board going to keep wayne hughes or scapegoat his arse out of princes park?

Carlton would be an attractive proposition with a stable board who had a clearly articulated plan and who knew what they were doing.

right now - we're far removed from that. And anyone who thinks a person of Voss's calibre would walk into the amateur shambles that is currently the carlton football club is delusional.

this was taken from today's herald sun

"It's understood the Blues have also approached the management of Brisbane captain Michael Voss to sound him out on a possible assistant's role if, as expected, he retires from the game. "

Voss is the modern day Barassi.I would be moving heaven and earth to get him into the place................there have been quite a few names put forward as prospective assistant coaches.Pretty good candidates...........but they are all Indians. But when you want something done, you dont ask an Indian, you ask for "The Chief".
And Michael Voss is the best chief since Michael Voss.Get him at any cost.

Voss needs a year or two out of the game .. and has told us so.
Not interested.

A career in the media beckons.

He has been saying this for quite awhile.
Shame.
But the board needs to desperately pull off a coup like Voss to try and give itself some semblance of credibility. But we don't want that, do we?
