yep, lets get as many women as possible, put em in cheerleader outfits and they can do our pressers, FFS

I'm advocating at least one high-profile, passionate Blues Supporter who is female.
Are you suggesting that a woman has absolutely no place on the board of a football club?

if she is on the board merely for the fact that she is a woman then yes that is exactly what I am saying. Tokenism is bullsh%t, if it is someone who can improve the club and has experience and knowledge then I don't care they are male, female or a combination of both. Nicole Livingston, whilst being a nice person and good in the media brings what credentials???

1. She is a Carlton supporter
2. She is good in the media
3. She used to be a good swimmer

oh sorry, 2 out of 3 aint bad.

How about Jo Silvagni?????? She is female - lets put her on the board

You're being a bit harsh there. She knows what it's like to compete at the highest level in her chosen discipline. Subsequently she'd have more knowledge of the sacrifices sportspeople make than nine-tenths of the current board. You can't have a board of just-business types. That's what we have now and look where it's getting us...
Also, you can't have aboard of just ex-footballers.
Ideally you have a mix of types. Business-brains, media people, ex-players who have made a success of themselves after footy.
And, FWIW, the Blues get more publicity out of celebrity-supporter Dave Hughes than any board member. Livingston would be a constant positive presence in the media in that vein, but with an official position at the club.

I'm not advocating tokenism, but I'm apparently more open-minded about it that you are.

Is Liz Ellis a Carlton supporter?

I agree with Livingstone as a contender for a position, but what has Sharelle McMahon done to deserve a spot?

Steve Benson would vote for Ellis and McMahon.

I'm sure Steve would approve of Eloise Southby-Halbish too, now that she's retired from the Phoenix.

She no doubt has some sports organisation nous.

In all honesty I'm not sure about Ellis. Just throwing prominent females against a wall... Wait... That sounds bad...

Jim Wilson is a passionate Carlton Supporter - good to have a journo on the board to get the good news stories out of the club - only the good news stories!!!! 8)

His role is to advise on the how we get the right unconfidential messages out of the club and into the public domain. The current regime are just amateur at doing this - whether it be confidential or not.

Hopefully with Fitzy seeing everthing that went on with the board during the week and in recent previous meeting, it has changed his mind about joining the CFC board.

Listening to Fahour speak passionately on the TV the other day for NAB makes him the perfect person to have as the face of the club (ie talking that passionately in the media for us). It would be great to convince him to come onto any mooted ticket, even if it is in a limited role for the first year or so.

Also think that Robert Walls could be a good candidate for the board, if interested. He has the obvious football links, has intelligent and constructive things to say about Carlton in the media. He would be a valued member on the board for his opinions and understanding of the modern game.

That'd be sweet. He could put Spew in a cage match with the Big Show.

She works for AFL Sports Ready.
