Geez now I definitely want Brown in.

Clever move politically speaking, but talk about trying to create mayhem.

I won't be voting for Brown or anyone who reveals themselves to be behind the idea should they put their name up for election.

Me too Jim ... when it comes to politics i'm only voting for the straight up guy ... the one without an agenda

What a load of absolute horseshit.

Don't you remember Black Friday?

Under immense pressure, Browny didn't say a word.
NOT A SINGLE F*CKING WORD.
Dog may be a lot of things, a sellout isn't one of them.

I'm not calling Brown a sellout.

Brown is behaving like a dictator, and using money (the resource we need the most along with innovative ideas) as a tool to have his way.

If that's not what he's doing, then he better drop his ideas about who should jump on board.

Would you happily throw in 600k + of your own dollars for the board to happily go about their business?

If he has the gumption to put his money where his mouth is then he has EVERY RIGHT to make it conditional.

We could throw 6 billion smackers at this board and they'd find a way to piss it up against the wall and leave us up the shit.

So you're saying that browns $$ came with strings?? I don't like it.

Now the AFL had a hand in making sure DP stayed?? Why, if it wasn't their money being used to pay him out, why the @#$%&! would they care who's coach :? .

Let's see if Mad Dog would tip in even 100K to further the clubs standing.

And prop up this administration?

Not likely.

There are numerous people with connections who know of people willing to contribute money to the club but NOT while this board's in power.

Why do people have such a hard time understanding that money given is rarely unconditional, particularly in business?

They don't. They care about perceptions though. The AFL are associated with the club now. Fitzy sits on our board for them (even if only, allegedly, as an observeror), they've appointed a financial adviser to the club (Watts), they've given us special financial assistance. This is a messy situation for them. Before our financial inepttitude was our own problem. From here on in, it reflects on the AFL as well.

I expect that Fitzy observed something to the affect that if the club sacked it's coach, the perception would be that we did it with the AFL's money even if Brown was actually paying for it, and that would make it enormously difficult for the AFL to justify giving the club financial assistance in the future should we need it. Since our finances are such that no one can guarantee that we won't at some stage, I expect that sort of implied threat carried an a lot of weight with the board.

I emailed Caro about this today, hoping she can reassure me on some points about our board and what has gone on. No reply as yet - what are the chances that she will right back?

Don't be silly.

Of course you'd throw six-figures at a board that are incapable of conducting a simple off-season review without it becoming a media circus without holding them to account.

Jimmae, can I interest you in a used car?

I'm an idealist.

Yeah I'd be interested in that nightcrawler, but I'd fret over the board's capabilities in terms of making a reasonable decision.

I'm probably not putting that forward as well as I could Chucky. I'm just not a fan of Fraser's particular approach. He's put down exactly what he wants, with no guarentees of future benefit for the football club.

With all the talk around some of the names that were brought up and their suitability long-term (even by those backing the push), it makes it sound like we're releasing one problem to stitch ourselves up for another and he's not even going to completely payout the original one!

And now that GWS wanders in and says he may have done it all just to play people off against each other and smack the board around, you have to ask yourself: would he have gotten a mate to come out and berate the board had they sacked Pagan?

"They have sent the club down the river with this decision, it's time we made a change."

Where does it end?

At the End Of the Day we are piss weak and we all know it. Now all this talk is just getting boring... Could of, Would of, Should of. Bottom line Pagan is our Coach and our Board are Puppets. Brownie tried to help but the AFL stepped in... Lets just face it we have copped another Dick from the AFL.

Time to move on and hope that season 2007 starts better than the way 2006 ended. Pagan might be coach now, but he would also be a warm favourite to be first sacked in 2007...

Lets get over it !!! And i'm NO FAN of Pagan.

Oh well :-D

Maybe the board had a moment like the Australian puplic did on the eve of the last election. Suddenly saw Latham for the arshole he was and got cold feet.

Brown is possibly the last person I would want to owe soemthing to. He hardly gives the impression of stability most on here are demanding.

Nor will I and nor will enough Carlton supporters to make this board rue they day they ever decided to think about making a decision to decide something they didn't understand before flip-flopping and flop-flipping and then changing their decision to make that decision in the first place....

Or whatever it is the @#$%&! they think they're doing... :?

I personally think that was all from 'Dog' Brown.

I think you're wrong Dr.S.

I hope you're wrong too.

It may not be Brown himself on a possible ticket but there are certainly people connected with him who will move at some point.

I just hope they don't leave it too long.
