Can someone please tell me why Lauraine Diggins is on the Carlton Board? How did this come about? Why? I'm at a loss... The only ever mention I've heard of her is that she voted for Pagan to stay. What a joke the board is! Is she an ex players daughter? Seriously? @#$%&!. What influence does she have?

Granddaughter/daughter (not sure which) of an ex-player.

Runs an art dealership, flogging Australian paintings to people with spare space on their wall.

Looked good as the token chick on the Carlton One ticket. didn't say much at the AGM, but then no-one except Collo really did.

Reportedly cracked the sads when her granddad's/dad's No.5 was given to Josh Kennedy without anyone consulting her.

Good for an autocratic president like Collo to have around, because she'd never cause any 'trouble'.

She'll cause less trouble when she's off the board.

We are becoming the Labor Party. Isn't their goal to have 40% token females by 2010? This board is a joke. I'm even losing faith in Sticks at the moment as much as that pains me to say.

No mention of her Carlton involvement on her website.

Would Collingwood ever let a chance for any mention of their club go begging?

Fair enough. :?

We have to be careful not to get personal.
Lauraine may not be an outstanding board member but she did put her hand up at a difficult time.

It's better if we say thanks for your efforts and send her on her way when the chance arises.
No doubt she believes she's done her best.

Her father Brighton Diggins was Captain/Coach of our 1938 Premiership Side.

Brighton was recruited from South Melbourne where he was a member of their 1933 Premiership side which was dubbed "The Foreign Legion" as Brighton Diggins and a number of other players were recruited from Western Australia.

Brighton wore the number 5 guernsey - and Lauraine's main preoccupation with her time on the board seems to be her concern with who is allocated that guernsey.

Brighton Diggins is rightly considered in the pantheon of Carlton greats and responsible for winning a flag in what was one of our periods of great premiership droughts (1915 to 1938) but it has to be said that Lauraine's contribution other than for putting her hand up to be part of a Carlton Board in one of its darkest hour of need, leaves a lot to be desired.

But then again "Barb" is the daughter of Fred Fitzgibbon (member of the 1947 Premiership side) and who is famous for gaining a four week suspension from the 1945 Bloodbath GrandFinal whilst not even a member of the team - Fred was already serving a three week suspension - and received another four weeks for running onto the field during the 45 Grand Final and joining in one of the numerous brawls.

It could be argued 'Barb" has made a greater contribution to the Carlton Football Club than Lauraine.

I thought she spoke really well at the pre-match function up in Sydney

I have shots of her, mitchell, mclaren and some game day shots at the Canberra Carlton site - accessable via the homepage (in my sign.)

Got it about right. half the board is crap and half OK. We need a leader by nature, not a leader by name. Someone who can re-unite this club - all of its factions, and steer a steady course. I do not believe dog is the person Anyone got any ideas?
