i said the same thing....

Look the problem with Bozos is they stuff up....

The problem with Bozos stuffing up is they look at laying the blame elsewhere...

Yep. Lots of discussion about Russell and Pick 9. As if that anyway compromised 2006?

Because they are going up that track.. they should sack themselves for not having picks # 1 and # 5 anyway...

After the elections , when Valmorbida got in by the skin of his teeth.. he was going "yadda yadda yadda.. ill certainly be trying harder.. yadda yadda... and that recruitment of Russell for pick #9... yadda yadda yadda... blah blah blah"... blaming that pick somehow as to why we were grilling him....
and i said"When have you ever seen him play? ive never seen you at the VFL"

Anyway... they like to use that one ... and it pisses me off!!!

they will be looking for scapegoats to make it look like they know what theyre doing...

So let me get this straight... the reason we are in this mess is because of Jordan Russell???

We thought Murphy was the Messiah... seems Russell has the ability to make the Board do backflips, bring down the whole playing list, and keep Pagan from building a winning record. For a (sorry if I am wrong - don't know exact stats) 19 year old who has played about 8 games, young Jordan clearly wields a lot of weight.

Hughes has done brilliantly for us - under no circumstances should he go (and nor should JR for that matter)

I'm disgusted, angry, shocked, and the whole lot!

No, poor recruitment was offered as a reason for our performances in 2006 and Russell offered as an example of a first round pick that hasn't worked.

I hope they didnt jsut talk about 1 player. Of course recruitment overall is a key reason to where we are but I'm more thinking era 1997-2001 and the previous administrations' 'New Pick is Right' strategies where other Clubs contest for our picks by nominating our value... Recruitment since 2004 (end of) will hardly have, or expected to have, any impact on 2006.

Add poor recruitment of assistant coaches and we may be getting somewhere.

Howabout the fact that they re signed Kouta to help the kids but they could have spent that money on a development manager...?????

Its not the recruiting .. its the development!!!

Everyone is recruiting from the same pool of talent...its what you do with the name of the kid you draft!

If Kade Simpson had been a top 10 pick and this was 18 months ago they would have been using him as an example.

Pointing the finger at Jordan Russell.

What a bunch of f-wits.

These guys (smorgon, valmorbida, diggins, wilson, etc) have the potential to destroy what's left of our club from within.

To hear Malouf last night, voice almost shaking, explain that we need a player development manager but that they can't do everything they want and he'd have to 'try to find the money from somewhere'... and to think we re-signed Kouta on 50% more than a player development manager would cost...

It's just sheer mismanagement.

I no long just pity these people. I hate them for what they're doing.

FFS guys - do the right thing by the club and recognise that you're not up to the task and help usher in some people who are!

Look i too had some reservation (and still do) about JR going at pick 9 but if the club are gonna start being a bunch of cowardless flowers and use his name as a reason why we are in this mess then JR is never gonna develop..............no, sorry i take that back.................the only thing HE WILL develop is a LACK OF @#$%&! CONFIDENCE!

Grow Up Carlton..............

Problems finding money for a list/development manager but no problem paying Kouta to go round again.

Their priorities are all wrong...!!!

Oh Lord (sorry to plaigarise Preacher)

Just when you think it can’t get any worse you realise with this board that is a pipe dream.

Utterly disgraceful and cowardly singling out Russell – they really are in fairy land.

Finger should have been pointed right back at him...

'And do you think some players need to develop in different ways?'
'How much ground time have you given him?'
'Do you think its best in the Club's long-term interests to have Russell play the whole season to get him ready or at least assess his development?'
'What development track have you outlined for Russell in 2006?'
'How much 1 on 1 time have you spent working through with him?'

etc. etc.

Is it a coincidence that Port's recruiting officer has just quit and Hughes's record is being questioned?

This board would do anything to make it look like they're making changes but they're putting the wrong people under the pump.

Think it is about time that people with "inside knowledge" or "Good sources" actually post who those sources are or Shut The F*** Up because all it does is create false "undertandings" of what is going on and - from the reaction of many posters and readers in here - creates a needless hysteria and further embellishment of what is obviously a very difficult situation for all involved.

I know you will all say that you can't or won't for a variety of reasons including privacy of your "Sources" but until you are willing to name names, then as far as I am concerned, you are all full of sh*t.

Where do you think the media actually get a lot of their stories? Not because they have inside knowledge but from clowns in sites like this spreading their vitriol based on a second-hand discussion.

Was any one of you actually IN either of the Board meetings?

I couldn't care less about 2nd, 3rd or 4th hand information, or who you are or who you think you are. For the purposes of an internet site you may think you are God's but hiding behind a disclaimer and a nomme de plumme is a disgrace when you are discussing things of this nature.
The onus is on you to prove you are not a bunch of egocentric frauds who find that having a reputation as an "insider" on an internet site is important.

So far, in 5 years of trawling both TBV and TC, I have not read one post has come up with a "proveable" scenario or that hasn't already been mired in rumour, gossip and innuendo for ages. (ie - Pagan coming to Carlton all those years ago). For much of the "truths" that are written, they are baseless and entirely inaccurate.

Someone.. please..please point me to some inside information that is actually TRUE and based on fact and not just on rumour and innuendo.

It is actually quite comical and laughable reading some of the "guarantees" and "certainties" that you people want to post. And if there are little sheep who want to believe everything that is written then that is your decision. I urge you however to think for yourselves and NOT believe the crap that is written in sites like this (every club has them) as being gospel.

Probably Dr. Sherrin who has pointed at the corruption in the AFL especially around the time leading up to the 1999 State Election is scratching at the surface of something big but again, who in their right mind couldn't sense this anyway?

BBBAAaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

The big concern for me at the moment is that this board will rush around signing contracts before being outed and we'll be stuck with their appointments or another hefty payout bill once they're gone.

Come on Fraser.

Get a move on little doggy.
