I'm inclined to believe since it's the only explaination I've heard the fits the exact sequence of events we have observed.

I don't see why Ockham would make up something like that...

Not saying he made it up, but how good is his source... there are so many conflicting rumours going around, they can not all be true. I must say that the part that SOS was promised Pagan's job after one year and Smorgon comes out and says that Pagan's job is secure for 2 years and then SOS pulls out... dont know if I can believe this. On the footy show Brayshaw says he talked to SOS today and what he reported did not fit this part of the story.

Mikkey,

James Brayshaw spoke with Sticks, not SOS.

Gary Lyon spoke with SOS, his good friend.

Gary Lyon's report of his conversation with SOS fitted what I posted.

regards

Ockham

Some of the stuff on here has been surprisingly quite accurate. Just the Board doing more backflips than a gymnasts just throwing us all out. Very hard to validate anything without revealing sources, which you can't really do. This sounds a valid explanations for the many changes of position by the board and I'm happy to believe what is written here by Razor. And I'm still thinking we haven't heard the end of all this.

All right, got the 2 mixed up. Wish I had taped this, but the conversation with SOS did not say he was promised the head job as far as I remember? Anyway, how good is your source?

I must say the events as reported by you are absolutely amazing. I mean how could they promise SOS the job in a year when he has not even been a full time assitant? And if yes, why would Smorgan say what he said.... If this is true the whole bunch is even worse then I thought.

Edit to add: How can there be 8 of 10 wanting to sack Pagan and because they can't agee on BM they keep him? If 8 out of 10 want DP gone, well the sack him and do a search. What a bunch of morons.

SOS was informed during the board meeting, via telephone, that the board would appoint him assistant to Denis and after 1 year SOS would be installed as coach.

All voted on this and it was passed. SOS understood this to be the deal.

Meeting adjourned.

Smorgan stood on the steps and announced to the media that Denis had the support of the board for the next 2 years.

This was contrary to the vote and the agreement that had been reached.

SOS couldn’t believe what Smorgan said. It was contrary to the deal.

On Thursday SOS told the club that he would not join the club as they had now reneged on the deal.

Ockham: is there any chance that this was a misunderstanding between the board and Silvagni? A simple miscommunication?

Perhaps what was aired for public consumption ('Pagan has the backing of the board for two years' etc) intentionally differed from the backroom deal, the proposition put to Silvagni - only SOS misunderstand the lay of the land. Quite obviously, if this were the case, someone is at fault for poor communication, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Something still doesn't add up. It seems a bit over the top for Stephen to react in this way. To perhaps over-simplify things, if the mooted prospect of an additional 12 months of 'coaching education' was enough to prompt Silvagni to withdraw his offer and turn his back on the club, then perhaps he's not the man for us after all. Perhaps everyone needs to cool down, regroup and reconsider.

Frankly, we can't be certain Silvagni would be ready for a senior coaching job in 12 months time anyway (how could we know at this point?), so any offer along those lines is horribly irresponsible in any case.

The current board are indeed a rabble, whichever spin you put on things.

Jims right..the info from all our reliable sources has been good its just the situation changes every hour...Smorgon has been caught out very badly with the SOS situation if Gary Lyon's chat with SOS is correct.

Mikkey,

I am confident in my source - I would not have posted it otherwise.

Hopefully my previous posts provide some sort of credibility with what I post.

The same ones firing shots at Collins at the this years AGM. The same guys who were all over the national news wanting Elliot gone.

The Unofficial Selection Commitee.

PS: I may be wrong :-D
