Constant upheaval? What upheaval Fegg? Having the same old same old is why we're in this predicament. Same old 90's coaching philosophies, same old 80's business models.

Pathetic. If you're poor you change it for the better. There has been no change and quite frankly it appears the Board are happy with sh*t.

You have a short memory. Remember throwing out the Elliot board? What about 3 presidents in nearly as many years?? So once we,ve ousted this lot, how long does the next board get , is there some time vs success formulae that we should apply? How does it appear that the board are happy with sh*t??

No betterment of financial situation, no betterment of onfield situation.

The most disappointing thing about this situation is the complete lack of professionalism shown by the Board in this whole situation. They leak the fact that Pagan's in trouble, then they back down, making a mockery of the Club in the process.

It's the lack of professionalism that grates the most probably. If this was a publicly listed company, shares would have gone to $0.00000005.

best thing about shares like those is if they ever get to 1c youre a rich man...

but there is no best thing about this board... unless you are a Collingwood supporter...

Any chance Cresswell Longmire could also be grabbed for support coaching roles? Both would add tactical knowledge and may see it as a chance to impress Melbourne clubs.

Cresswell is available. Brisbane pissed him off and Geelong won't take him back. Apparently tactics and match day is his strength. May be a useful acquisition.

They must have been on some serious drugs in that board meeting tonight because of all the possible outcomes they could have reached they've arrived at unquestionably the most stupid and illogical.

I mean just think about it for a minute. It makes no logicial sense. How can you hold all of the club assistants to account and not the senior coach? It's insane. Pagan is responsible for the assitant coaches. Either they all go, or none of them go, with the possible exception of Mitchell for purely practical reasons.

I can't work with these idiots

If i may just add to that: To FIRSTLY arrive at the decision that it is worthwhile hearing what lowly Barry Mitchell has to offer (I say lowly because he has NEVER been seriously considered for a senior position at any other club), you must FIRSTLY have concluded the incumbent is not up to it. How then can you go back and decide that your FIRST decision was wrong? These guys are idiots. What about the hilarious posturing of the supposedly supportive board? They ALL have to go. They voted Smorgon in as President. He is clearly pathetic. He should go, as should the idiots who voted him in. I want a real leader to take over as President. Then let's see how we go. This is a joke. Those of you calling for stability are calling for the continuation of mediocrity.

Instead of becoming a review of the Coach, this has become the catalyst for a review of the board. And therein is found the rose among these thorn filled days. Had this not happened we would not have been armed with the ammunition required to remove this pack of incompetents as quickly as we now will. Thankfully it has for we will now rise quicker. We will be stronger sooner. And we will assume our rightful place at the top of the mountain more rapidly.

Let's focus all our energies on bringing the right president to the helm. And the rest will take care of itself.

This decision will shape the next 5 years of our club.

For mine it was a make or break decision.

I'm with Synbad, BV, Clem re: the board.
They are gutless.
They are weak.
They have no direction.
They have no plan.
They have no idea full stop.

If Hawthorn had the guts to appoint a rookie coach in Clarkson, someone who is slowly restoring the culture at that club, then why does our board find it hard not to have faith in Barry Mitchell, a man who is the most successful coach we have at the club in 2006?

To be honest, I feel sick knowing this decision.

Denis had the chance to use Mitchell and Liberatore, what makes you think he'll use others besides Elshaugh?

Hopefully Elshaugh will get the arse, and Denis will be forced to.

I hope we never go for a Clarkson type. Hawthorn along with Geelong and Kangaroos are the worst teams to watch in the AFL.

Well its good to see you agree the board has no idea. You can join the long list of those who want change at the top.

I reckon Clarkson is doing all right there. Their game is far more watchable than ours.

And he has some sort of positive relationship with the players.

And the players want to play for him.

And he has some sort of game plan in place.

There's a lot more to like about Clarkson than there is about Pagan.

Pagan staying
All assistants likely to go (Thank God)
SOS likely to sign on as assitant with a view to taking over the mantle

I did watch it ... but it was not exactly representative of the way the Hawk games were generally played.

He's staying Beano.

There is a chance that all the assistant coaches will be cleared out and the board are going to appoint new assistant coaches, ones that Pagan can't hand pick himself.

The sticking point of Mitchell not getting appointed as coach was that the board didn't believe he was a name coach and had very little faith in his abilities at the highest level.

The words 'smear campaign' seem to not register with many in this thread...
