That's what footy clubs are all about Clem: breaking hearts and bringing joy in often unequal measures.
It hurts. It really does. And I think that if you're not hurting today, you don't really support the Blues.
Whichever way you think about it, you'd want the process to be done professionally. If Pagan stays, then all that leaking to the press was completely unprofessional and stupid.
If Pagan goes, then they could have handled it a lot better. This indecision has marked this Board for ages.
It hurts because we're playing poorly.
It hurts because we have the worst brand image in the AFL.
It hurts because there's nothing I can really do about it. I'm not qualified enough to run for the Board, though if I get enough support from you guys I would.
It hurts because most of us can see the bleedingly obvious and can look long-term and seemingly more qualified professional business people cannot.
It hurts because we're crap and nothing's been done to change it.
It hurts because other people just laugh at us and really, there's nothing we can make a comeback against them because we are really a laughing stock.
It hurts because of the impending fear that if nothing changes, then in 3 years we will have no Carlton Blues Football Club, instead the Carlton Kangaroos or some such crap.
It hurts because a lot of good people are going to have to go as a result of this process of not having enough balls.
It hurts badly.
It hurts because the Board had no courage. They blinked. They couldn't see past $$$, they don't see that $$$ and results are related. I really hope that the Board didn't hear about the 80% of HUN and SEN readers/listeners saying they supported Denis. If they did, what an indictment of how unprofessional they are.
Well may they say Pagan save Smorgon because nothing will save Smorgon from the wrath of the Carlton corporates and supporters. Smorgon will go down in history as Pagan's cur.
Shame Smorgon Shame.
