Maybe they after sacking Pagan they should appoint Mitchell as a caretaker coach pending an interview process, in which he would no doubt be a candidate.

The main caretaking he would be doing for the next 1 to 3 weeks depending ion how they go in the finals, would be looking after the Bullants.

Mitchell should throw his hat in the ring and should be assessed along with all the other options....but appointing him without any process regarding the other option is not to the benifit of the club....

It was reported on 7 news that SOS will come back to the club and be an assitant coach but only if Denis stays as coach. This would be great to have SOS back at the club. Hopefully the board make the right decision and keep Pagan instead of replace him with Mitchell which would be a disgrace.

Are we going to have a new thread on every development in this coaching saga?

a playing list low on morale....perhaps tired of denis's way but full of developing talent.

change is needed by the sounds of it. we will get a young coach for sure.

nothing wrong with mitchell's record versus the next fella and provides continuity with the young list that is developing.

whilst i wouldn't tend to agree with a club full of ex-players coaching and on the board, in some respects it may be what we need to build the morale of the place.

however, the long term danger lies in a coaching panel full of 'mates', and brought in on conditions underperforming???.................1970/80's colingwood times ahead?

oh dear....life is a merry go round isn't it?

If all that is being reported is true, this is a joke!

How can any organisation, let alone one which is so far in debt that it has to beg for money, justify sacking a coach with 2 years and $1.2m + of contract, and NOT canvass ALL possibilities in terms of a replacement?

If we appoint Mitchell without first interviewing Longmire, McKenna, Cresswell, Harvey etc...then I hope someone gets the 100 signatures together and spills this Board...bloody disgrace!!!

Think of it as a business decision if you must.

Pagan is no longer providing positive press to the Club. He is a public drain for us on and off the field. No one listens to him as he doesn't say anything. His contract has been a noose around our necks ever since Collo signed him up for 3 more after a bloody pre-season Cup. Since that time we've come 16th twice. Last twice. Now the onfield has joined the off-field.

Someone comes in and offers to solve the problem. Pay for it. Remove the noose. The quid pro quo is that someone with a good CV, who knows the players, gets a guernsey. Who can tell whether this person is the best, or worst in the market. He is probably somewhere in between, but in a footy sense he is pro-development and that's where we are. That's where we should have been.

Id take that deal in a (lets pretend it takes us days to consider options and canvas alternatives) flash.

The business has suffered for too long and his role has become untenable for the Board, with or without the problem solvers.

Do it.

ditto......

Appointing Mitchell just because someone picks up the tab to pay out Pagans contract with the condition that Mitchell is the coach would send the wrong message and no doubt that a boys club would be formed......
