Given the total membership of this site equates to 4% of Carlton's membership, that leaves 96% of members not visiting here. Even if only 25% of them voiced that they want Pagan to stay that's still 6700 members, 6 times more people than are members of this site. Internet posters are the minority.

My issue with the Brown deal is the choice of assistants. I am not sure of the coaching credentials of Diesel, Ratten, Bradley, complemented by Sticks and Gleeson in charge of the football dept. The set up stinks of the dark days from the Elliot era.

We fought very hard to break up the boys club, and although times are desperate lets us not take our eyes of the big picture. Another year of Pagan may well be the lesser of the two evils if the choice of assistants is non negotiable component of the deal.

I'd rather take the dark old days of success and premierships over the last few years.

The days when we appointed a Barassi or Parkin to turn this club around and not a Jesaulenko.

Cronies and I'm glad the board didn't cave into Brown's demands just for the sake of change. I just hope the delay in making a decision is because we're trying to find a more qualified coach in the next week.

A better move than have a coaching panel which is just a re-union of the 1995 season and made up of Carlton people.

Brown has no right to dictate who is coach and his support should be unconditional.

Sounds like Fraser is trying to fix the mess that the club has become since your boy has been in charge.

My boy?

So it's all the coach's fault that the club is a mess?

Italian_Blue claimed that Brown only offered to put up $1.2 million if Mitchell, Ratten, etc. were given the coaching reins.

Is a flawed solution better than a solution where you have the club interview prospective coaches and appoint the best candidate?

Maybe I'll find $1.2 million to oust Pagan and put my money where my heart is. Then I can appoint who I see fit to coach the club because it's a solution and part of the conditions. Pratt ousting the board is one thing if he offers fund for their removal, but we wouldn't be happy if they were replaced without a transparent election.

Correct verbs. My sister thinks Pagan should stay ... she has seen 2 games this year, and has no clue what tactics are used.

I reckon Pagan should stay too...

He should stay as far away as possible from the Carlton Football Club.

Razor is right abour certain board members going ti the media before it had been rubber stamped at it hadnt.
BUT, the board had agreed that Denis was not the right man already.
From what i understand high profile people were approached"'felt out ' and rejected us.

Denis staying on was not logical... he has lost the players and especially the YOUNG ones.

Something had to give.. and something did!

I think tis all sets up a board challenge in the the next election too.

Brown is said to have been a linchpin in all this.. and im not sure if he dominated the whole thing or not... but from what i understand and Italian Blue confirms.. his fingerprints are on this somehow.

Anyway... hopefully its about developing kids for the next 2 years as a priority.

My sources say Denis will not be at the club next year. (Yesterday afternoon he was... yesterday morning he wasnt... )

But i think this time they will stick to it.

There are wealthier people than Brown willing to pay out DP.

The way I look at it is, Pagan is safe, unless he is sacked. Either way, he's either staying or going, depending on the committee.

The dark days I refer to, is the period between 1996 - 2000. During that time we made one bad decision after another on and off the field. Our current predicament is largely a result of those poor decisions.

Ok, so we'll know by Friday what's happening with Pagan.

Does this mean they are interviewing guys like Longmire, McKenna etc before Friday?

They've been trying to contact Menzies, so far no calls have been answered.

Yep, I would think that Brown Dog would be the type of bloke who would be unimpressed with someone who takes advantage of good results to demand a 3 year contract, and then not perform but still collect a very nice paypacket. Browny would be the type who would expect someone to walk immediately if he couldn't perform at the elite level.
