It's September 5 for god's sake and this should have been filed end of month.

Reflecting on the past six months, probably the one lesson which stands out for me is how hard I need to work to be the best. Another impression is how enjoyable it's been. Footy clubs are great places to be around, the atmosphere and the friends. I only played in two winning matches during the season and it was such a good feeling around the club after the game and during the week. Hopefully next year we'll have many more. Not hopefully, definitely.

In fact, the club had me rostered for media and duties and speaking engagements on match days throughout July and August. I've done pre-game interviews on 3AW twice, Triple-M and the ABC once each, spoken at two Carlton President's luncheons, two AFL functions, two Carltonians and club coterie functions and a Social Club event. On top of that I helped out with a couple of interviews for the Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun and got grilled by Clinton Grybas, Tony Shaw and Rodney Eade on White Line Fever on Fox Footy Channel. I wish I had a dollar for every time I was asked about my shoulder, my rehab, the NAB AFL Rising Star and my thoughts on how the Blues are going.

What an impressive young bloke he is - we're in good hands with Murphy, he's an absolute gem.

In these otherwise unsettling times, it's wonderful to entertain the thought that we can watch Marc grow and develop even further as man and footballer for years to come. As a role model and benchmark for the many other young players that will join during his time, we couldn't have wished for more.
