Piss off Ando you tosser, what the f#^k do you know!

Rebirth of Blues

I really dont like these under-reseached, mediocre journalists speculating about our recruitment and list management. If they really wanted to put a story up they could point out the sheer injustice of Carlton not receiving a PP at the start of the ND and put pressure on the AFL to yield to this demand.

If ever there was a club that should be entitled to this pick it is Carlton given that we have endured 5 years of failure! The closer we get to the draft the more irate I am about this issue. It is almost comparable to Black Friday! We are once again losing a 1st round draft pick which should be ours.

Yes...pick up what you need not the best talent...very wise.....
Let's just say that we have an abundance of "Marc Murphy"s in 2 years as JKAde, MArc, Gibbs, Blackers are all of Judd ability....How many Dean Coxs, Jason Balls or Matthew CXlarke's could we trade for???

Dont worry Marci - calm down a bit!

Just be thankful there's a slightly positive article in the press after the shambolic second half of 2006 sucked up all goodwill we had. Disagree all you want about priorities but rucking remains a huge weakness - doesn't take much to see that.

Has Saddington down as holding a key defensive position in 2007!

Yikes - where is the research coming from?

It's a shocking article, but the sentiments about being in our best position since 2001 is correct (if stating the obvious). Really, who wouldn't want to coach us next year? They'd be coming to the job Denis thought he was coming to four years ago.

If Pagan gets the boot we should put it out to tender.

Haha, I see hammer moonlights for The Hun…

I didnt think it was that bad..Anderson isnt a real footy journo but made some reasonable points...
When you are as bad as we are you can make a valid argument for just about any player to bolster our lists..

In light of French retiring...Luenberger must be under some consideration...Mojo rates him highly if you read his draft profile carefully and I heard Craig Cameron also rates him up there with the big three....

Then there is the Gardiner question.....if we decide to take him in the PSD then it probably points to Gibbs being taken as our first pick to cover another weakness.....he points to a fit Saddington as being useful to help bolster the backline..I dont agree but its a fair assumption I guess..
I think he was trying to look at getting the best value overall with our picks including the PSD.....I dont agree with him but I see where he is coming from...

He then discussed Mitchell and Pagan and the teaching of younger players and the perception that Pagan cant teach but pointed to his U19 record...

Overall I thought it was a reasonable view of where we are at and what we need from a journo looking at the obvious...

I think it is a shallow, uninformed piece on our situation and one that barely tries to scratch the surface. Another so-called football reporter who tries to flog off a news item as some sort of informed compilation. French has retired and now our ruck stocks are in trouble?! Christ, they were in trouble years ago!!!

Maybe I shouldn't single out Ando, but I cant think of one credible football journo and am sick of their repetitive rigmarole and unresearched tripe

Also, does anyone have Michael Malouf's email address at Carlton. I am compiling an email and want to go straight to his inbox

Don't worry about footy jounos. There's about 75% too many, so to justify their jobs they have to keep inventing new ways to say the same thing.

We know most of them source stories and topics from sites just like this......don't you Patrick.....we know you're there :P .

If they closed footy forums down, half the journo industry would go into meltdown, just like when Lisa stole the entire teachers edition collection :-D .

michael.malouf@carltonfc.com.au

I'm pretty sure it's his direct email, I've emailed him a couple of times and received responses so he definitely reads them

Leunberger has ZERO chance of going at number 1 ... any journo should have done enough research to know this at least. Could he fall to pick 17 a la Cam Wood ... unlikely but still a more plausible scenario than him going at pick 1.

Just wait until they start suggesting possible trades ... fairyland stuff.

This is what I mean Dukes. They sprout this rubbish and the average run of the mill supporter and other ignorant journos read it and start spreading this dropkick's words as gospel and you have uninformed opinion everywhere and misdirected speculation placing unnecessary pressure and scrutiny on the clubs recruiting selections

The ruck hasn't suddenly become a problem. It has been for ages. There are gaps in our list everywhere. This knob is trying to advocate recruiting for your needs when selecting the best available is the way to go. I bet this knob-jockey hasn't even seen Leuenburger in action yet he scribes this rubbish and flogs it off as informed journalistic work. Piss off

Craig Cameron had Luenberger in the top3 when asked on SEN.......James Sellar was touted as going No 1 ahead of Gibbs early in the season....things change...if Freo win the flag and Aaron Sandilands is the dominant big man, peoples perceptions change ....beanpole ruckman will be back in fashion..

Dodoro rated Ryder at number one last year and recruiters always pump their picks by saying they were amazed they lasted that long. But the proof is in the pudding and we would be overpaying if we pick Leuenberger at one. Pure ruckman don't get drafted early and it is the rucks who can play forward or kicks goals that are selected early.

White
Primus
Fraser
Ottens
Koschitzke
Longmuir
Laycock
Meesen
Ryder :?:
Sellar :?:

The rucks are being drafted later as the game changes and Primus and White are rare examples of a ruck being drafted early.
