Jesse smith has been dropped to make way for teague. What a disgrace, you are a f***ing idiot pagan. 20 minutes game time to prove whether or not you are good enough to play and keep on for next season. What a joke! As I said pagan you are a f***ing idiot.

Watch your f***ing mouth. Football is about reward for effort and David Teague hasn't done anything wrong in his time at carlton, There is no reason why Denis shouldn't put Teague up for selection. If it's one of his last chances to wear the navy blue then I'll salute a bloke who has backed back into more packs and put his nut over more contests than any carlton player in recent history. To give a guy like Teague reward for effort premotes a culture that every club in this leauge aims for. I see blokes like Ryan Jackson hanging on to tackles by their fingertips and I know they're driven by the example set by blokes like Teague. Footy clubs are built on blokes like Teague and you do everything you can to acknowledge that, even if they have a limited future. If you want to watch Jesse Smith go round go and cheer on the Bullants instead of slandering my club.

WOW

It was only my personal opinion bloos. I didn't feel he played like someone who deserved to be in Carlton side...but he wasn't on his own there.

And the players that did make the Carlton side were oh so impressive! Can't believe that you could be critical of a kid that actually played a very good game and as previously stated racked up 25 possies and kicked two goals! You just don't make any sense

bloos...as i stated, quite clearly I thought, it is only my opinion. I didn't think, despite the stats, that his game was all that great. One game out of the season....not talking about his whole career.

I repeat...only my opinion....one person amongst many hundreds at the game.

The way he was treated was shit, if he was promoted give him a couple of games to see what he is made of or else what is the point ?

I personally dont think he is anything special, and dont think he should of been promoted in the first place. I think Ryan Jackson should of come into the side sooner as he is a player we need to step up, someone who runs all day. Jesse is similar to Bentick and Carazzo.

Jesse Smith has not really blitzed in the reserves in the 2 years he has been at Carlton. But I will happily be proven wrong if he does get a chance next year though.

This is MY OPINION, and everyone has their own opinion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Brendan Fevola would have given Jesse Smith such a big wrap on the Footy Show if he wasn't worthy of promotion....but then again that is Brendon Fevola's OPINION over your opinion.....

I thought that Ryan Jackson didn't look out of place on sunday ...... whereas ..... Jesse's "minutes" at senior didn't give me the same impression.

Oh yeah, to play it safe; that's my "opinion".

I missed what Brendan said on the Footy Show as it hardly has a reputation of spreading cutting edge news, but did he say what Smith offers us that Bentick & Blackwell don't and where he saw us fitting in a third midfielder who is not blessed with pace in the engine room?

What kind of crap are you talking, young Jess has worked his butt off, and finally gets rewarded (supposodely) by being elevated, to get all of 20 minutes for the game. What a bloody disgrace, sure you would have a right to bag the kid, if he played crap, but he didnt even get that chance. Give the kid a go, he hasnt had the opportunity to show his talent with Carlton, and if as you say you have been watching the Bullants, you would know this kid has got talent and lots of it. Even his Carlton team mates have said it was crap he only played the 20 minutes. Get off his case, and give the kid support. God only knows all the young kids need it, not the shit you are talking.

In all honesty though, he did not have the opportunity to be impressive, he had a couple of touches, but what I am saying is give the kid the opportunity to prove himself at senior level. Something Carlton has yet to do.

was he better served by the 15 other clubs who passed over him in the national draft? I think it is fairly hard to argue that a rookie listed player has been harshly treated...at least Carlton saw something in him and put him on the rookie list ... and then elevated him ahead of a couple of players that were said to be more highly fancied...

worst case scenario, he can look back on his career to date and say that he has played 70 minutes of AFL footy at Carlton ... that's more opportunity than the other 15 clubs have given him.

I agree, at least he has been given the opportunity at Carlton, I just hope they give him the opportunity next year as well. Give the kid a real dip at the big time. He deserves a go, as do all the young ones.

You don't 'deserve' anything in AFL footy until you earn it ... we've given 50 games to a number of players (for christ's sake even Wiggins is up to 70 odd) who are blatantly not good enough. This has gone on for too long and explains why we are down where we are talent wise.

Jesse has had two years on the list and I don't think he has shown enough in the Bullants to be retained. Similarly, when he played in the middle in the seniors (albeit for very short periods of time) we got smashed.

Again ... just a personal opinion based on what I've seen of him. I'd be going with Jackson on the rookie list and bringing in some TAC midfielders with pace from the this upcoming crop. I think Bentick and Blackwell have shown more up to this point.

I disagree, if you work your butt off you do DESERVE a chance, you obviously havent been watching the bullants closely enough. Young smith is one of the best tagers going around. He does DESERVE the opportunity to prove himself.

Denis's main commentary this year relates to 'we're all working very hard'. It's not good enough and doesn't of itself demand anything. I can see why in some circumstances you'd prove a point to a slacker by picking a hard worker over him, but effort is not enough at the top level. Not in sport, in finance, in law - you have to have some inate ability to get ahead.

:) Lets hope smith does get a chance, very constant player, who has not had a real fair go. Give him the chance to show what he has got at AFL level, no one can really prove themselves in the 10 minutes the kid had

Agreed. Why on earth people knock a kid down when he hasn't even had a proper run in the seniors astounds me...bag his play in the bullants all you want, he has PROVEN himself to be a great player for them....I don't want to keep repeating previous posts, yes, the next bagger will now put another post after me, and continue to promote Jackson, I don't argue that Jackson is also going along well, however it astounds me that the knockers of Smith are also the promoters of Jackson.
