I like the positives this week.

1. Teague, Archie and Sporn are no good at AFL level and showed just that today. Nails in the coffin.

2. We lost by a big margin, played without pride and passion, played as individuals. Nail in the coffin for Pagan.

3. We gain pick 17 and 19 in the super draft.

4. Carlos was a star today. 5 Votes from me.

5. Bower gained some valuable experience playing on O'Loughlin in a key post.

6. Action Jackson can play.

7. The delistings can start next week.

8. John Meeson can be safely marked down as a priority target with any other uncontracted young ruckman.

9. French went out in style. Has been a good servant at Carlton, had a poor year this year, which ultimately helped his decision I would of thought.

It was a sunny day (mostly) in Sydney.

Finallly a Carlton 'home' game for me

Sentanta! Loved his game, his run from defense to pass to Fisher was great (then Fisher missed the easy shot, undid all that great work)

The hope that we wont be this bad forever, that something good will happen out of the embarrasment ie big shake up

Decisions can be made on players who are not up to it

Setanta. ...We may have found a big, mobile, KP backman. That helps us so much.

Next positive...hopefully the end of Pagan!

Lance was appalling. Took up too much space in the F50.

Setanta was fantastic - really was exciting to watch. He's extremely mobile, just lopes along.

The season is over.

I took some nice pictures of an angry Pagan.

Too much space? At times there was no-one in there!! We cannot blame the forwards whatsoever today, they were given the least hope I've ever seen. poor devivery, ball movement in slow motion, grossly outnumbered, what hope did they have. I understand Fev's frustration.

Good to see Fisher play ok in a mid-field type role. Has more pace than I thought. Means we don't always have to play himeslf or Waite in the forward-line giving us a little more versatility. Worry about that next year.

You bastards can't do anything right!

Still, I'm kinda happier finishing where we are. 4th may give you a double chance but would have pretty much been a hard task to win. At least I get to see another game in Victoria and along with that a lot easier game to win. :-D

15th -> 5th. That's my positive for the year.

When he was there...I agree.

The midfield was absolutely smashed. What were the stats for clearances? I would have said we would have been soundly thrashed.

Yes the midfield was smashed, but you look at Sydney's midfielders, none of them are exceptionally brilliantly footballers yet they are basically all big and strong bodies who are getting the ball knocked down to them from a good ruckman. We were without Stevens and Bentick who are second and third respectively for clearances this season at Carlton. And if it wasn't for Kouta winning a few we would have lost by even more. This is partly why I can't fathom why people are so eager to get rid of players like Stevens and Kouta. They are at least big bodies that can win the ball for us and send it going our way, yes they have faults but they are very important to us in this area.

1. Setanta - easily the best player on the park for the blues.

2. I got to go out on the field and help with the match day banner :)

3. I met the sexy squad - and even though there was not much to be happy about with the game - these guys are hilarious. Thanks for the laughs boys. :)

My positive was that it was Fathers Day and as such I mercifully missed most of the game.

Blues2005, what you say stood out like dogs' balls.

I, along with other Carlton people I was with thought Whitnall's positioning was very good, and showed plenty of smarts getting a few meters ahead of his opponent to provide the link, and move the ball quicker, or led into space, but was ignored...ignored!!

Setanta...say no more.

Scotland fantastic year, and really strong game. Houla's passing was class, and was chasing all day, like the rest of us.

That Swans outfit run, run, run, and as a team, moreso than the Eagles. We weren't in the same class.

Setanta will have learned a lot today,as would have Bower. Hold your ground next year, and get into those weights!! It'll pay off. DeLuca too needs to build some strength, if he doesn't retire for business reasons, seemed to get in the right spots, but was pushed too easily under the ball. Build your strength up Adrian, and use your height. I also thought that the foot passing to DeLuca, who has such a height and reach advantage, gave him no hope of marking so many times. He's only as good as the passes make him look.

Well done Fev...Coleman medallist....and may next year be bigger for you and your team mates.

Blackers did really well, and created a link up many times. Wee done. Carrots and Thornton were OK, and tried all day.

Walker is wasted tagging Swans players. He is an attacking player with good defensive skills, so let him attack next year.

I look forward to the midfield in 2007 consisting of Stevens, Murphy and Walker, with support from Gibbs, Kouta, Bentick, Simmo and Blackers...and maybe Smith and Jackson. Yeah Jackson showed a bit but his pace was a concern for me...but he looks like he can run all day.

I didn't expect to win, and it was a beautiful sunny day. Cold Pies really annoyed me, but at least I was compensated with free beers (full strength)... all up, Ihad a lot of fun yesterday with my Sydney based Carlton mates. Felt great wearing the Carlton jumper at the game....quite a few Blues supporters...great to see.

SETANTA!!!! stared down back. easily our best player.

fisher tried hard without much reward.

waite snapped a nice team goal.

Paul Bower was again impressive and plays offence football from the back half.

Jackson did no look out of place at all and was probably one of our better players. his intercept in the last was impressive.

blackwell played solidly against bigger bodies.

i got to sing the fevola chant atleast once.

Positives for me was Denis gave some of the boys a job and left them to it. Setanta was great and continully left a loud mouthed flower near us speachless. Also love the fact that you can see the disappointment in him when he flowers up. Its not drop you head stuff so much as shit I cant believe I let that happen wont do it again. Bower on MickyO in just his second game and he wasnt disgraced.

We have no ruckman capable of giving first option to our blokes and on a ground like the SCG if we didnt gain first clearance it was going to bit us on the arse big time. This is one area we really need to recruit for, even if it means talking to Gardiner and taking a risk.

Also a question to those who have seen Deluca in the VFL . Is he really too good for the VFL becuase to me he seems to be the sort that could benefit from a full season there for his confidence level becuase he really looks timid out there, like he doesnt feel like he belongs?

We don't have to put up with Dermott 'Captain Obvious' Brereton's "special comments" for the foreseeable future.

I'm trying to think positive about Carlton, but it is too difficult to, more of the same old wishful thinking that has occurred at the end of other seasons!!!

Carlos - best Irishman out there. As I yelled out during the game and had an middle aged woman glare at me for my 'insolence'. 8)

p(12)terg and I won the chanting comp in the crowd. Imagine it - 3 of us in a sea of Swan ferals:

"SYDNEY!"
"CARLTON!"
"SYDNEY!"
"CARLTON!"
"SCOREBOARD!"
"CARLTON!"
"SCOREBORD!"
"BRYCE GIBBS!"
"SCOREBOARD!"
"BRYCE GIBBS!"

Several times during the game. :-D

Trent Sporn did a pretty good impression of a footballer - certainly the best one I've seen him do.

Bower and Jackson showed a bit - Jacko's a lot smaller than I thought he'd be though...

I got a free ticket thanks to Mr Terg :-D

I managed to get to the servo on the way home before the tank was empty

I think that's it from me...
