It's just as difficult to pick zero each week as it is to pick 8.

100% agree

Sack pagan by all means, but "due process".... no quick fixes.

Due process = 1st Step. Can we pay Pagan out? Answer = No.

Need to think outside the square.... The AFL will not allow us to pay a 2 year contract out.....wont happen, unless we show a massive saving somewhere else, or Pagan resigns forfeiting his contract? (whywouldyou)

Other ideas?

You're supposed to be supplying the answers here EB, not the @#$%&! questions!!!

If it's not the clubs initiative, who's is it? (The AFL?)

Is Mitchell the man? (We wont tell anyone)

Sook to the AFL for more money.

St.Kilda were broke and they found the cash to pay out Blight. Surely we can do the same from somewhere.

I don't buy that argument.

You could always just sack him then be prepared to take him on in court for an unfair dismissal claim .

I think the club could have a good case because they could get Pagan on suppling False information when he applied for the job and he was not fully qualified for the position he applied for.

He said he could Coach????????

Now the season's over, the Mitchell push is gathering momentum.
It's being talked about in very high places. Board meeting this week.
Could be a very interesting month - tho it will need to be done soon, with draft etc coming up.

Our season starts now :-D

Mitchell is hardly a good replacement, if true. Coached only at VFL level - hardly a glowing praise.

I see that as a knee jerk reaction. Once again, the Bullants have stumbled in the finals (be it we have another chance) for the second successive season. Is Barry Mitchell the answer? I would prefer a Don Pyke or John Longmire, if we were to be bold and sack Pagan.

Whats Pyke done????
Barry Mitchell at this moment in time is the best man for the job.

"coached only in the VFL " is better than not coaching a team of your own....

Don Pyke has been right hand man to Neil Craig and served under Ayres & midfield coach at Adelaide. Was part of a successful era at WCE and can bring a good discipline and respect to the team.

I think VFL coaches are overrated. I'd prefer a raw assistant coach that's done their apprenticeship. Besides, Mitchell knows the Carlton way - has been there since 1994. I think we need someone from outside.

Yes he has been the right hand man to Craig.. but what is his philosophy on football??
Can you lay it out for us??
What are his man management skills like???
How much of Craigs coaching success can be credited to Pike???

When Elshaug was Denis' right hand man at North (really succesful) does that make his a good up and coming coach???

If we replace Pagan without going through a proper process ( 8) ) then it is a waste of time

There are no guarantees when you pick a raw coach that was an assistant elsewhere. Whatever his philosophy on footy, it sure would beat the hell of our current coach.

Man management - I cannot tell you, but you'd do your due diligence by interviewing Pyke and others.

You wouldn't know Mitchell's philosophy, now would you, Synbad? I wouldn't expect you to.

I'm saying, it would be better, if we gave Pagan the boot, to look outside Carlton - it would be too easy to just pick Mitchell, especially given his best mates with 2 board members, which I don't like either.

But you cant tell me anything about Pyke but you think he would be a good get???....

I can tell you all the kids love Mitchell.. and they love playing for him.. and he allows them to be creative and believes in giving them confidence.

and we had Digby, Franchina and Harf all returning to play for him.
I can tell you he knows our kids better than anyone else.. and he understands them.. and they all come to the AFL with form thats been attributed to playing for him...

But youd go Pyke???
