Err why not?

For someone who wants the captaincy and is seen out on the drink on Friday, why would you give it to him?

And besides, I don't think it should be deleted when stuff like this gets posted all the time.

Ring the club then. We have no say on whether Fevola is made captain.

Nothing wrong with it PJ. To some people the truth hurts.

He really means his mate was out and pissed and his Fev cardboard cutout was even worse

It all appears doom and gloom right now but then I look at the list and can see some improvements in the kids. Some at different rates to others but there is a glimmer. I still think we have some glaring holes in the team but the inclusion of 3 or 4 very talented kids this year and I think we have the basis of a very strong team being groomed.

In 2002 we were slow and lacked skills under pressure and went about rectifying that by drafting kids. The kids have skill and pace but we need to get their bodies bulked up and their stamina improved. Unfortunately that takes time and pre-seasons.

We lost a lot of games by low margins this year and next year with further improvement from Simpson Walker Murphy Fisher Betts Blackwell Kennedy Carlos Russell Jackson Bentick and Bower we may be able to narrow that gap. That's half the team still doing an apprenticeship but showing pace and skill. We still seem to lack another classy midfielder a key position defender, a dashing half back flanker and ruckman but we have some options on the list and will add to them at the draft table.

its ok bringing the kids in .. but its what you do with them.
they need coaching.. they need mentoring from winners.
Denis and his crew muct leave immediately.

Hard decisions need to be made.

Denis is a huge fan of Gardiners...the word is he has held talks with his father/ manager.
I hope common sense prevails..... and he is sacked before he can bugger us up some more.

As promising as we have been at times this year and the way some players have improved is a positive, something nags at me.

I have a little theory that other teams don't rate us and generally have played at about 75% just waiting to capitalise on our mistakes and concentration lapses and run out comfortable 40 point winners.

My evidence may be flimsy, but here goes

1. A far from elite Hawthorn hit us hard a few weeks ago and absolutely smashed us when the game had to be won.

2. Sydney absolutely had to get top 4 today and bought their A game along - we were a long way off it - though arguably today was our weakest team for they year.

3. St Kilda were going through a rough trot, had key players out, but set themselves for us, and finished the game in about 15 minutes.

4. I reckon we have very few collision type injuries in our games, reflecting perhaps a lower intensity.

As we get better, we could cop some fearful smackings (like Richmond this year) as teams raise their intensity against us.

At the moment, in a tough competition we are a luxury for opposition sides. If you go too far with the lack of respect you may get beaten (like Melbourne).

Otherwise we are a smattering of elite talent, supported by boys on mens jobs, some good average players and some who wouldn't get a game elsewhere.

In todays game the following were never going to get the job done for us:

- 13. Blackwell (like him but not in the class of Swans mids)
- 15. Teague (heaps of courage - but you need more in AFL)
- 18 Bower (game no 2 - looks promising)
- 19 Betts (his best is great - but can't get the job done every week)
- 20 McGrath (lots of good qualities but not good enough)
- 26 De Luca (has his moments, but we all know he is not going to get the job done against a team like the Swans)
- 36 Sporn (not good enough)
- 38 Jackson (game no 1 - something to work with - but can't expect him to tear the reigning premier a new one)

That leaves 14 players to take on the reigning premiers including the retiring French, Houlihan (almost in list above), Walker (playing with broken hand), Lance (who looked like he hurt his ankle earlyin the game), Carazzo (kicking a worry), Waite & Fisher (struggling for match time due to injury) and our mighty Irishman.

Makes it bloody hard and wouldn't cause too many sleepless nights for the opposition.
