Watch your f***ing mouth. Football is about reward for effort and David Teague hasn't done anything wrong in his time at carlton, There is no reason why Denis shouldn't put Teague up for selection. If it's one of his last chances to wear the navy blue then I'll salute a bloke who has backed back into more packs and put his nut over more contests than any carlton player in recent history. To give a guy like Teague reward for effort premotes a culture that every club in this leauge aims for. I see blokes like Ryan Jackson hanging on to tackles by their fingertips and I know they're driven by the example set by blokes like Teague. Footy clubs are built on blokes like Teague and you do everything you can to acknowledge that, even if they have a limited future. If you want to watch Jesse Smith go round go and cheer on the Bullants instead of slandering my club.

Crack on - great response there. Teaguey mightn't be the most skilled bloke in the game or the quickest but he gives 100% every time he's out there. He's milked every drop of talent out of himself and i reckon he deserves a final run around in the navy blue. If he's here next year I could think of worse blokes to be filling up spots 25-30 on the list. If he's not here I just hope that he hangs around with the Bullants and provides the same sort of leadership that Diggers and Harf have been giving this year.

Smith was never going to get the chance of a a top 50 pick in the National Draft, which is what most expected. Denis gave him these last few games to see if he is worth promoting, which was always going to be unlikely. What has he done to guarantee himself a spot? He was in the team to show his talent and yes, he didn't get much game time, and he did what was expected of a guy playing his first few games of AFL, but he needed to do more to save himself.

Personally, I think he will get delisted. Not everybody makes it from being a rookie, he has had two years to prove himself minus the time he was injured at the start of the year. There are too many midfielders at the club at the moment and with more to come, it doesn't look like there is much room for Jesse.

I wouldnt be that happy if I was Jesse Smith....not much game time and dropped for a player who has a limited tenure IMHO...
I dont agree with the theory that Denis is a master of developing youngsters either..plenty of unhappy youth at North prior to him leaving.
When you promote a rookie at a late stage I think you have to show some faith in them...we know what David Teague can do..Jesse Smith vs Kirk/Bolton etc would have been a good learning experience. He does his best work in close and the Swans are about as hard and tough in close as it gets....I dont get it...

Plenty of unhappy youth everywhere in the AFL Elwood.

Would much rather an extra 10% be unhappy but at the same time an extra 10% turn into good footballers.

Unless you can give me stats with respect to the relative numbers of youth 'wasted' at each club it is purely guesswork.

Fantastic !!! I knew there was a reason I keep coming here.
Best (passionate) comment I've read this year.

Dont needs stats..direct from an ex Roos player....most of the youth were rapt to see the back of Denis and his bully boy Carey....

8) Ramble I may...but yes, I was at the game.

It was only my personal opinion bloos. I didn't feel he played like someone who deserved to be in Carlton side...but he wasn't on his own there.

Mrs Caz,

Do you actually watch the bullants games??... or have you actually seen any of them throughout this passed season??? ... I sometimes go along and watch and Jesse Smith has been a great player for them so where does your justification for what you are saying come from??? I went along on Saturday and Smith played quite well.

Also, regarding him being ready to play in the seniors - look at these facts:

Jackson - First game gets 82 minutes
Bower - gets a full game

Smith - last week gets total 23 minutes spread throughout 4 quarters - following week gets dropped... unfair to compare Smith to the other 2 because Dennis Pagan (for reasons I cannot understand) didn't give Smith the same opportunities - he would go on the gound in the last minutes of a quarter and therefore this didn't allow us to see how Smith could play in the seniors. We can't throw judgement until we actually see him get decent game time.

And the players that did make the Carlton side were oh so impressive! Can't believe that you could be critical of a kid that actually played a very good game and as previously stated racked up 25 possies and kicked two goals! You just don't make any sense
