Yeah it was a bit of a shock to me as well, who is going to ruck for us next year? :o

But more importantly, well done to Barney for some great service provided to the club, he was a very good clubman and always tried hard. He will be missed.

Congrats to Barnaby and not unexpected thought he was one who was goin to pull the pin ....

Shows how we should have chased Jolly harder last year we where in the mix but Sydney got him and we didnt.

Who was the key ruckman today ....... Jolly ...

Wish the big guy all the best for the future, if everyone had the heart that barney played with we wouldn't be where we are.

Also may have saved Bryan his spot on the list

Has definitely saved the Bear...

well done Barnaby - good career, has made the right decision.

I'm only interested in Gardiner if he comes through the PSD - otherwise wouldn't give the Eagles anything for him. Play hardball on that one Blues.

All the best to Barnaby, and good on him for snagging a goal with his last kick in league footy.

Sad news and leaves a big hole in the middle for us.

Good luck for the future Barney.

Well done to Bananaby on an admirable career. I must admit to almost shedding a tear as he walked off the ground. He was one that always gave his all for the Navy Blue. A good decision though. It will make the club look hard at their rucking stocks for the coming years.

Well done Barnaby French, a more honest player you will not find. Has been very admirable during the worst period of Carlton's history. Thanks big fella!

Good decision from Denis to not allow Barnaby to announce his retirement until the game was shot.

I'm sure a lot of the sheep will be sad that the player we got in the "deal of the century" is gone.

Agree. We are now stuffed. Kreuzer next year is a cert.

May not have been deal of the century but we were going to actually lose our 3rd round draft pick in the National Draft of 2002 - AFL were actually livid that Port Adelaide traded with us on that Pick 18. So Barny was actually a freebee.
