Also at the bottom of the article there is an interesting comment by Graham Smorgon ■Carlton president Graham Smorgon said yesterday that the club's youth policy would rule it out of trading away draft picks for older players. He also indicated there would be a review of the football department at the end of the season, and forecast "substantial changes".

Are they finally going to have the balls to make changes to the coaching department. I suspect Pagan is safe due to his contact but the rest might need to look for a new job.

By the way "substantial changes" doesnt mean adding on extra part time coach like a SOS. hope Graham stick by is words.

Interesting times ahead. It would appear, no matter what, we will have a new captain next year. That will be our sixth one in less than ten years.

I don't want to name players, but we've got a leadership group and it's probably, you know, Lance (Whitnall) or Nick Stevens at the moment who are probably the standouts to take over the captaincy."

I'm glad he doesnt want to name names!

We might as well follow their lead in "rotational captains" as we are following them in every other way, including "wooden spoons".

yesterday in the negatives thread i said it was a negative that kouta played well as it might encourage him to play next year but after watching the replay last night on fox, if he's going to play like that for the rest of the year (which i doubt) then i would want him to go one more year, he just seemed so much more at home in the midfield even the commentators said that.

Great player in his time, and proved yesterday that he still has something to offer the club at his best. At the end of the day though, he's 34 in january, i'd prefer a Flint or Jackson to come onto the senior list, pick up an additional rookie and Kouta to walk away.
