To be honest I have enough rubbish in my house to invite more in. I'll read what I need on the net and save some trees.

I got this at the start of the season, they were at the front of MC labour at the start of a practice match from memory.

I'm picking you as a caramel mocha mud caffe latte type rather than just "plain old". :P

Good deal for readers, especially if it is linked to more positive coverage of CFC stories
Just have to hope there is no backlash from the Collingwood Chronicle.

Only until about round 3 the following year - then the glass will be completely empty, our recruits hacks and our recruiters worse than war criminals...

signed up!! Wonder if I'll get the time to read it, especially the voluminous saturday one. There's a fair chance most of the papers will go straight from the front lawn to the recycling bin, but if it helps the club!!!!

I did wonder if I wouldnt have been better off putting 3 $5 notes into an envelope and sending it to the CFC!!!

I wondered the same thing really, but signed up as I figure at 14c per paper I'm not really throwing much away and when I do Carlton get 7c of it anyway :)

According to the rumour file, one of the reasons that Collo left was because of this very deal with the age, that some board members had an issue with.

Suddenly the board doesn't have an issue with the same deal - sounds a little odd to me. :?

At $7.50 going to the club and then working on the scenario that 10% of members take up the deal, we are looking at about $22K raised for the club.

Would that even pay for a year's supply of crepe paper for our Cheer Squad banner?

I know I sound negative but I HATE THE AGE or should that read CAROLINE WILSON?

at risk of getting yelled at, I agree, she can piss me off sometimes but I really like the fact that she is not 'one of the boys' and doesn't care whose toes she steps on to try and get a true story out there.

So Collo leaves a club he's played for, worked for and donated a HUGE amount of his time to as President FOR NOTHING and leaves the club because some of the board members had an issue with a deal with a newspaper?

"Sounds a little odd?"

Maybe because it's crap?

Yet another post that provides one piece of rumour/opinion and arrives at an outcome without taking into account any of the other various complexities.

Have you met Surrey Blue yet DUC?

Oh and CK - re Caro - I think I understand it. Caro tells people things about their football clubs that they don't want to hear. When she's proven right (most of the time) they slag her off as being somehow responsible for it. She tells Carlton supporters they're about to get reamed so they shoot the messenger. If she was a bloke she be "insightful, wise and analytical". She's not so she's a Richmond supporting whinging bitch...

Still pretty much the only journalist in football capable of actually breaking a story rather than simply reading out a press release.

Hey GWS - your horse Betsy is waiting for you outside.

The complexity of the matter was that the Board did not roll over and say whoopee on Collo's proposed deal [and now signed deal] with The Age.

As head of Telstra Dome he had just signed an exclusive newspaper sales deal for distribution rights at the Dome.

The Age then wanted to extend to the members of the football club that he was also President of.

The simple fact was that Collo did not have the full support of the Board, which he unfortunately, for him, he needs to have.

And please don't make me puke about how much time and money and effort he put into the club - when it was he that signed half the dodgy player deals when he was the club CEO.

Collo gets Carlton to move home games to the Dome and didn't get paid a cent for it?

Shocking! He should speak to Kerry Stokes about the $7m he spent on the VC medal and see what money he can get from that.
