I went after work to get my ticket from Kew Newsagent...the person serving me had no clue whatsoever so 30 mins later  I finally got a ticket in row F of Legends Upper so that's not too bad.

Hey Camel?

did you require two memberships??? or were you able to book two seat on one???

Also is there any chance you could double dip?? not that I want to be dodgy, just curious.

Yep, I had to quote my membership # and mrs camel's too to get the tickets. However, even though I'm guessing the numbers are recorded to prevent multiple purchases with the same number, I reckon you could probably get away with it.

Not that I'm condoning or suggesting that you do that of course.

Got my ticket, Heroes Stand on the terrace, now just need to buy an extension cord for the pie warmer... :)

A question to the masses
Did ticketek sell the OO AFL section to AFL members? In my booklet the AFL section is Upper Heroes stand and a cpl of bays in the Legends.

Not where I'm sitting at all.

Chaddy Explained it's the club and the club well here's the shock... they reckon it's chaddy ticketek fault!!

I'm in The Legends Stand, Bay 18 Row A. Pretty happy with that., even though not sure exactly which is bay 18....judging by the map on carltonfc.com.au its almost on the wing, last bay of the Legends Stand.

you know what, its kind of borked that social club members cant book tickets.

we have to get there as early as possible and to sit in our seats and once we are in we cant go outside the social club area into the "commoners" area.

Thats ok, the rest of us with a reserved seat will try to make the most of our time roaming the ground until the game starts.

I kind of agree Prez, but not knowing the make up of Social Club members to seats, is it likely to be a real problem in that there may be too many SC members for the seats available to them?

I am pissed off!! Fair enough that members get in first and all.... but I am a not a member, not by choice, but because I can't afford it. I have been a member before, but being a student, driving to tafe everyday and then work.... I just can't afford to get one, when I will not be going to every match. They should allocate a small area in the legends stand for general public, to buy tickets now and be able to go. And if they dont, they should show the game Live in Free to air TV.

I too can understand your frustration I'd be pissed off if I had to miss the game but everything you do is by choice, saying that you don't have a membership by choice doesn't make any sense. You chose not to purchase one, you made that choice. I'm not having a go at you I'm not but do you understand where I'm coming from? I'm just a pedantic little bugger

The game should be live on TV, fingers crossed for all those that missed out.

I do understand what your saying, but I dont agree that you have a choice to do everything and anything. I was a member in 2003, before i had my license, I had the money then. And now I simply can not afford it, I still owe my dad the same amount of money i have owed him for a year. Plus, I work every Sunday and most friday nights. So when I am working full time Monday to Friday I will get a membership and be going to every game I possibly can. :D

just dont know to be honest
im hoping that alot of the past social club members have since upgrade to a reserved seat considering the move.

but time will tell.

I will be there when the gates open just to make sure.

Will stand as usual, not going to stress about getting or keeping a seat. Fully expect the social club to be packed and for it to be very difficult to see the game. Not too fussed, I am going to enjoy every minute, going to walk on that sticky carpet, smell that wonderful smell only a proper bar has, watch my fellow members of the navy blue army ride every bump.

It is going to be something to savour.

Last year at the carl v melbourne game I left the social club and was walking through the car park. I turned around to have a look at the old girl just in case it was my last time and there were thunderclouds and lightning rumbling in the sky over the stand. It looked beautiful. I thought to myself, we have had a great win, it was a great day and I will never forget the look of those clouds over the social club, maybe I should say goodbye here and now. I did at the time, but another year is here, and I want one more sip from the cup. :)

Think you'll be among friends there Scotty...

Riss - on the 'It's not fair I can't afford a membership' topic, I really feel for you. It's tough, and it does penalise the people that for so many reasons don't have the lump sum of cash to commit with at the start of the season.

But the club have to do it.

They owe it to those that are able to make the committment, to make their membership worth something. Otherwise who is going to buy one? They can't set aside seats for 300 people on the off chance they will turn up. As has been said already, you'd be gutted as a member if you couldn't buy a seat during the priority period but a walk-up was able to get hold of one on the day.

The club has a far greater responsibility to its members than it does to it's supporters alone.

That said - it's not too late! Get a lemonade stand going, have a garage sale, or maybe you can get an african child to sponsor you for just a dollar a day (hey, $365 would buy you a damn fine membership). If you don't have a concession card, just make one and print it, that should save you a bit of cash too.

See? Loads of ideas!

Thanks heaps to gezman for the tip off, I just got some cheap-ish airfares for us to fly down to Melbourne for this game. Gotta love this, we took advantage of Virgin's $9 happy hour flights...

Tickets $9 x 4 = $36
Taxes and Fees = $164
-------------------------------
Total flight costs $200!

That's still a pretty good price to fly two people from Canberra to Melbourne and back, don't get me wrong, but what a farce it is advertising the fares as $9. It's a good thing these website pricing structures will be changing next week so that all fares have to include the "hidden" charges.

Anyway, see you all soon!!! :D

Onya Camel. Are these the special lunchtime deals that I've heard about?

Are they on everyday and at what specific times?

I think though if you want to sit with the commoners you can just enter through Gate 6, but you can't go into the Social Club
