How much of a role does money play towards a team's success these days?

We pay the same salaries as other teams, so obviously not much

Well if money is an important factor than this game - like so many others- has become a business. This is sad in my opinion.

Ordinarily, I don't think the players deserve the harsh criticisms they receive. However, if you're earning $500,000 a year plus sponsorships, then there must surely be a performance quota.

I watched tonight as a 6 point somehthing million dollar team perform like a piece of crap - evidently, the players earnning the least showed the most heart.

I think this analogy has been used before, but if a doctor, lawyer, plumber, builder, manager, marketer or accountant are being paid to do a job they are expected to do it properly.

Not being able to kick or mark is inexcusable. Missing goals from 10m out is inexcusable (that's richmond)

If players want to earn such high salaries than they must cop harsh criticims on the chin and be held accountable for their flaws.

Same should apply to coaches, presidents and CEOs of football clubs

We are forced too pay the same as other clubs. Doesn't mean the players are worth it.

That' the AFL direction, must pay a certain percentage of cap minimum.

Money is the root of all evil. Not that I know much about money - or rooting for that matter.

For a $45 saving, only fill it half way

In all studies on human behaviour, money has been shown to not be a motivator. Given how our players have been consistently paid above the competition averages, I think this clearly demonstrates the fact.
