It looks like one Anzac day game maketh the player. This is an interesting topic for discussion, but the conclusions drawn by Chip Le Grand I think are hastily based and skewed given the events of the weekend. I know who I would rather have, despite the following quote:

Quote:
"I can't judge this but at the time there was a three-year age difference and Mick said that when Didak gets to age 23, he will be a better player than Nick Stevens at the same age and as they go on," Swann said.

"That is the reason we didn't trade. We copped bucket-loads for it at the time but Alan is a good player. He is a match-winner. The other bloke is a good player but I know who I would rather have."

In the past two seasons, Didak has had a season tally of only 21 goals and his highest ever season total is 36 goals. FWIW, Betts kicked 19 goals last year in his first season of football playing the same role! I don't how you can say that Didak has the edge over Stevens. Admittedly, Didak has had some injuries but that kind of proves that it is difficult to definitively say that they're in a better position because he just doesn't have the runs on the board.

Didaks legend is legendary at Collingwood....

He may well sit alongside other greats who have made their reputations in the Anzac Day match - like McGough.

Despite Essendon* and Collingwood trying to make out it is the other GF, the reality is that it was contested by 2 of last year's bottom sides, and one if not both will be the same this year.

Didak is a classy player for sure, but he doesn't have that consistency to his game. he is flashy here and there but doesn't do it week in week out.

he is a pretty decent player but stevens does it week after week.

but they play total different roles anyway.

IMO a 20-30 goals a season small foward is probably not as usefull as a 20 goal and 20 plus possie a game classy midfielder, even though stevo is generally and outside mid.

Chip LeGrand has been drinking Patricks bathwater I think. (or ADPs)

What a surprise, Greg Swann supports his player!! :o

By any measure, Stevens is ahead.
At age 21, Stevens had 2 top 3 finishes in his club B&F and now has 4.
He has averaged 20 or more possessions every year he has been in the AFL and has a career average of 23.

By age 23, Didak has finished nowhere in his club B&F and has a career average of 9.8 disposals per game.

Stevens averages more inside 50s, more tackles, more 1%ers, more clearances. Nearly more everything.

Didak averages more goals and more brilliance.
So does Damian Cupido.

At least we know now that when Stevens is out of contract he won't be trying to go to Lexus Park

If you compare Didaks legs to his body.. theyre not in proportion. His body is too long for his legs...

I just thought id add that Didak also has a higher body to leg ratio than Stevens.

How can you compare Didak and Stevens, they are completely different players. I hate looking at stats, but if you compare their stats Didak wouldn't average more than 10-15 disposals over his career. Stevens would be Collingwood's best midfielder if he was there.

Collingwood are sounding very much like April premiers. I'm quite enjoying the tosh because I've got a feeling I know how the story ends.

I think Swann should be concentrating on TAC Chad Morrison and how to save the sponsorship
As for comparison and saying Didak is better how ridiculous :?

The fact they're trying to vindicate their decision two & half years after the event kinda tells me they have their doubts!

Fancy basing it on one game…against a slow Essendon* outfit at that.

So did Peter Daicos and Didak does not come close to that true magpie legend. FWIW all the hype on (and in no order of preference) Didak, Thomas, Twin Towers, etc you'd think they had won a bloody premiership.

I feel that for once the media has given us some ammo going into Friday nights game..........are you there Stevo, Kouta?

But this is the way that politicians would "handle" the TAC problem. Put forward other stories that will suck the oxygen out of the TAC story. It was fortunate that the Anzac day game happened to be scheduled at just the right time, but all of the other stuff about Didak and Thomas is getting a lot of press. It also helps them that the TAC is not their major sponsor.

Stevens is clearly a much better player then Didak however I can see why Collingwood were reluctant to swap him with Stevens as he is 3 years younger.

Stevens is a better footballer than Didak....like Murphy is a better footballer than Thomas....
Didak is a front runner.. a good one who can kick a nice goal but Stevens like Murphy is a meat and potatoes player with more substance...and ditto for Murphy v Thomas....
One Anzac day win and the Pies brains trust are full of it....Gavin Brown thinks they can win the flag.... :?
