One only needs to watch the 2005 Wizard Cup GF to realise that we still have plenty of supporters.

I was living in Perth in the year 2000 and remember most West Coast or Freo supporters were hoping Essendon* would beat Carlton and enjoyed our unexpected finals loss against Melbourne. The same applies for when I was living in Sydney during the 90's as most Rugby Union/League followers had Essendon* as their preferred team. We definitely used to be a disliked club, however I think this has changed somewhat over the last few years.

If we can draft well this year (like last year) we should have the list to make the finals in 2008 and be a top four side in 2009 and beyond.

Wonderful post klomp.

On the theme of crowd gimmicks, it was good to see the club giving away thousands of GO BLUES signs at the Sydney game that roll out when you pull the two handles apart.

My 6 year old niece got a lot of enjoyment out of this simple 'toy' which enhanced the whole experience of her first game of football.

So kudos to the club for that initiative. :-D

spot on, i gave the same thing to my two year old neice (collingwood family) and she loves it.

my father and i already have her saying "go blues" and combined with that thing its works well.
