Carlton needs Chris Bryan in the seniors because we need his kicking skills. He would have to be in the top five at the club in terms of kicking/delivery skills surely.
I remember Matty Allen in his prime playing on a wing at times and doing quite well.
Give Chris Bryan 1/2 a dozen chances from a wing in space to hit Fev on the chest with a bullet like 50m pass and he'll rarely fail.
How can Carlton best utilize the bear & especially his delivery skills?

He is one of the best kicks i have ever seen, especially for a big guy. At thee Ants game there last w/e there was a wierd breeze making it hard for players to kick with penetration, Bryan didn't have a problem roosting it from wereva he liked.

Its other aspects of his game that are his main worry like lack of ruck nous and some of his decision making...general skills are fine and he leaves French and Deluca in his wake skill wise but the old grey matter and application are his problem along with a lack of leg speed.....
I think he needs to be tried in the seniors again but needs to earn it by being consistent for the Bullants in those lesser areas of his game..

i'm not convienced byran deserves to be in the side.

he doesn't seem to have much desperation and the times i've seen him train he just seems to go through the motions.

he needs to want it.

Surely Pagan can bring Bryan in for the expense of Deluca!
I was over seas for most of last year so I did not see him play from what i reading in this forum i saw that he had kicked goals here and there?!?
Does anyone know his Game/goal Ratio?
Surely it has to better than Delucas'

Bryan - 11 games
74 kicks, 22 hballs = 96 disposals; 34 marks; 6 goals, 1 behind; 120 hitouts; 30 tackles; 12 frees for and 13 against.

Deluca - 37 games
172 kicks, 135 hballs = 307 disposals; 129 marks; 14 goals, 9 behinds; 182 hitouts; 71 tackles; 33 frees for and 29 against.

Bryan is 2 months older than Deluca.

I am note sure about him just going through the motions. I saw him out on the bike on the Sunday after Saturdays game. It did not look like he was heading out to get the milk. He was putting in. There must be a spot for him in the ones just on his kicking skills. Saw him hit Simpson against the Saints last year with tracer like kick over 40 metres that was very impressive.

Did anyone else think by the title that this thread was going to be about the glory days of Carrara?

A guy has a good kick, so he deserves a spot in the ones. Now I've heard everything

And I'm not even a Deluca fan.

.. ..yeah, on the surface yer'd think that kicking skill isn't enough to garner a senior selection.. ..but compare it to say depuca.. ..folks say bryan isna desperado enough.. ..but depuca even when desperado ain't much juice.. ..bryan marks stronger, kicks further and with better accuracy.. ..as fer rucking skillz, depuca ain't backing up frenchness now anyways so thats become a moot point..

..but, the main point is.. ..kicking skillz, in our current team is the sticking point.. ..and bryan does have skills in that area.. ..sure, he has flaws in other areas but most of our players do.. ..and our forward line is screaming fer good delivery.. ..imagine how better we would be with a player that kicks strong..the delivery would be accurate, over long distances..which would help us beat our own problem of getting numbers back, and furthermore fev wont have to wait and get gang tackled in the meantime..

I thought we would be re-living the sublime kicking skills of Johnny Gastev and Mark Zanotti....

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Bear brings more overall to the table than Deluca or for that matter, McLaren.
It's time for the Woof to be unleashed.
