I let everyone know if it's a recorded message or not

Not this time I spoke to Stevo, told him he can tell Kouta to stop leaving messages on my machine.

Sounds like I renewed too early. Maybe next year I'll wait for a player to call me first!

I have suggested this to the club before but never heard anything from it or wether it even got passed on... They should do a deal with interstate clubs for example brisbane (where i live) in that if you purchase a certain level of membership you can go to some brisbane home games as well as a few of the Blues ones.. I buy a Blues membership each year and then pay to go to a lot of the brisbane games as its the only afl we get up here and I hardly ever get down to melb for a game.
Im sure there would be other blues supporters here and in other states who do the same only don't buy the carlton membership in addition.
having an incentive like that might get a few more of them on board and even if that had do split the proceeds of the membership some money coming in from it is better than nothing at all.

Maybe next year we can outsource to the 'New Delhi Blues' who can call all members at about dinner time and try to sell them a membership, or mortgage, or mobile phone plan.

Alternatively we can get our players hanging out on the steps of Flider's St station in old clothes sidling up next to people and asking them if they have 50c for a smoke!!

I think a pub is a short-sighted solution. It looks like we are desparate, devoid of ideas and reinforces a blokey curlture.

Fair enough - I respect your opinion and see where you're coming from. But any business which has muliple streams of incomes is always far more secure in rough times. We can't rely on Barb ringing lapsed supporters or taking a small commission from the AFL each time the club sells a flag or jumper.

It's worth looking into along with other ideas that potentially could generate cash over the long term. I am all for ideas that make money for the club that are not footy related. The club has a big following and should use it to channel them toward other opportunties... and I'm not talking about the crappy idea CFC at present have of investing in a horse!

We need to think outside the square and need to listen to all new ideas posted here, gather them up and have the administrators send them to the marketing dept regularly. It might even be worth having a new section where ideas can be posted, member contribute then have it printed out and forwarded to the club - to a specific person - so we can follow them up and post their responses to these ides...

Just my perspective anyway.

BV spot on. I lived around the cnr in Nth Fitzroy and this was one of the Lions better earners, a very good pub. Given Mathieson's expertise in the area the purchase and running of another pub would not be a terrible distraction.
