And just on his running style, it seems to me he looks ungainly because he has a tippy-toe type action. Probably needs to use those long legs to stride out a bit more. Does anyone know if we have a sprinting coach?

Then I heard Stevo after the game say that he is the 3rd fastest in the club over 40m which I dont believe but it shows that hes not as slow as he appears at times

buzzah may not believe - but I wouldn't think there would be too many more quicker 200cm + players in the competition at the moment.

Archie was recovering from a foot injury earlier this year. During that period, he was doing a lot of sprints, in which he ran at full pace for about 40 metres but reduced for the remainder. He had the running coach running alongside him. So his action should be more effective now than it was last year. He was being asked to get his knees up.

I agree his action had previously been quite odd in that his legs just straightened as if he was holding some invisible object that meant his legs couldn't drive upwards. Haven't had the opportunity to check it out so far, as I've been at the games and haven't seen the TV footage. This time I'll tape it and pay special attention to his action. I hope it has been improved by the above-mentioned training.

I used to have a teacher like that. I always thought that he just learnt to walk in a dress.

Yep exactly what I meant by his tip-toeing style. Methinks Archie's had too much practice coming home late, after a night out with the boys, and tip-toeing past the GF sleeping in bed with cracked nutshells all over the bedroom floor (we've all seen the VB ads: somewhere between "see youse later"and "honey, I'm home" )

Great to hear our running coach is working to rectify the problem Mav. Thanks for the insight.

The fact that our key forwards are less than 6'3" exposes us for a marking option.
DeLuca is our best option at the moment.
His marking is so so by league standards but his ability to stand his ground in a pack is very good.
